🚒 Meet the Team Monthly – Real Talk Edition 🚒

Not every hero wears a cape… some just run on coffee ☕ and Hostess doughnuts 🍩😄

This month we’re featuring Lieutenant Firefighter/A-EMT Josh Heinemann — a familiar face who keeps things running smoothly on scene and behind the scenes.

From staying dialed in on the radio 📻 to making sure the station stays squared away 🧼, Josh is all about awareness, teamwork, and doing the job right.

And if you ever hear someone say they’ve never forgotten their radio… well… he’s keeping it honest for the rest of us 😂🙋‍♂️

Take a minute to check out his answers and get to know the person behind the gear 👇

🚒 Meet the Team Monthly 🔥

We’re proud of the dedicated men and women who serve our community, and we’re excited to give you a closer look at the people behind the gear.

In a small town, you know the trucks… but we think you should know the people behind them too.

Each month, we’ll spotlight one member of your Swanton Fire / Rescue family — sharing a little about who they are, what keeps them going on long shifts, and maybe even who’s most likely to steal leftovers from the station fridge. 😉

We’re proud to serve this community every day. Drop a 👋 below and help us welcome this month’s featured firefighter!

🚫🔥 OPEN BURNING BAN – MARCH & APRIL 🔥🚫

The Swanton Fire & Rescue Division would like to remind residents that the State of Ohio’s annual open burning ban is in effect March 1 through April 30.

In accordance with Ohio Department of Natural Resources regulations, outdoor open burning is prohibited between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. during these months.

This includes:
• Burning yard waste
• Brush piles
• Leaves
• Debris

🌬️ Spring conditions often bring dry vegetation and increased winds, creating a high risk for rapidly spreading fires. These precautions help protect homes, property, and our community.

🔥 Evening burning is still strongly discouraged when conditions are dry or windy. Always check local weather conditions and ensure you are complying with all state and local regulations.

If you have questions regarding open burning regulations, please contact Swanton Fire & Rescue Division before lighting any fire.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter/Paramedic Emma Krabill and Firefighter/EMT Tom Schneider on receiving a Letter of Commendation for their extraordinary actions during a recent grain bin rescue.
Without hesitation, both members climbed approximately 180 feet above the ground to reach a victim suffering a medical emergency. In cold weather conditions, they rendered patient care for nearly one hour while operating in a high-risk, elevated environment — ensuring the patient remained stable until crews could safely complete the extrication.
Their courage, composure, and commitment to patient care under extreme conditions exemplify the highest standards of the fire service. This incident required not only technical skill, but unwavering dedication and teamwork.
Firefighter/Paramedic Krabill and Firefighter/EMT Schneider’s actions truly exceeded the normal scope of duty, and we are incredibly proud to recognize their service to our community.
Please help us congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition! 👏🔥
