This evening, MSFA Immediate Past President Michael McLeieer paid tribute on behalf of the MSFA Executive Board to Chief Bruce Stover of the Berrien Springs - Oronoko Fire Department. He retired with 39 years of service, and became the department's first full time Chief. He joined the department in March 1982 and was Chief from January 1994 until January 2021. One of the big accomplishments was all of the grants that he received for Berrien Springs- Oronoko FD and for the County totaling a couple million dollars in grants for county wide radio communication upgrades, burn training trailers, and recruitment and retention. He also helped in establishing the smoke alarm installation program in the community which installed a few thousand smoke alarms in homes. He also helped establish the first ever rental inspection program involving fire inspectors and firefighters going and inspecting and making sure the rental properties were up to fire code. A tip of the helmet Chief for a job well done!

Tell Congress to Pass the HERO Act!

The Helping Emergency Responders Overcome (HERO) Act, H.R. 1480, establishes several federal programs designed to address public safety behavioral health issues, including:

- Creating a grant program for peer-support behavioral health and wellness at fire and EMS departments

- Directing the U.S. Fire Administration in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services to develop and make publicly available resources to be used by the federal government and other entities to educate mental health professionals about the unique behavioral health issues that firefighters and EMS personnel face

- Establishing a system for collecting data on su***de deaths by public safety officers

Use the National Volunteer Fire Council's Legislative Action Center to contact your U.S. Representative to ask them to cosponsor the HERO Act!

As the COVID-19 vaccine continues to rollout to healthcare providers, emergency responders, and the public, it is important to assess the number of fire officers, firefighters, and paramedics who have taken the vaccine and the overall side effects they may have experienced. To capture this data, the International Public Safety Data Institute (IPSDI), in coordination with the National Volunteer Fire Council, has prepared a short survey. Please click the link below and take 2 minutes to report your experience. Your feedback about the vaccines is invaluable as we continue to protect those we serve and each other.

Hello, I have a question. I've been on my dept for a lil over a yr. My dept is a member of MSFA. Does the dept membership mean that I'm a member? Or did I need to purchase a membership myself? Thank you.
Q: I know the memorial service and festival are cancelled this year. It is my understanding that this years names will still be added this year. My question is, when? And could it be announced when it's been done?
When will the names be inscribed in the Statue in Roscommon?

Please reshare this with as many firefighters as possible. These mask adapters let you prolong the use of a single N95 mask by 6-7 times.
