Students in our Teen Survival classes at SCMS recently welcomed Aaron Green and his team from Dort Financial Credit Union for the first of three Financial Bootcamp lessons.

During this first session, students explored important financial topics, including income, the differences between banks and credit unions, savings and checking accounts, CDs, and everyday banking tools like debit cards, ATMs, and mobile banking apps.

These are valuable life skills that will help our students make informed financial decisions as they prepare for life beyond the classroom.

Thanks to Jamie Patterson, all four Teen Survival classes were able to participate in this learning opportunity.

A big thank you to Aaron Green and the Dort Financial Credit Union team for investing their time in our Dragons and helping them build a strong foundation for their financial futures! ❤️🤍

A big shoutout to Swartz Creek High School student Amalia Morrish, who represented SCHS at the Michigan Student Leadership Summer Camp in July.

Throughout the camp, Amalia strengthened her communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills alongside student leaders from across Michigan.

Amalia serves as the Parliamentarian for the SCHS Student Council Executive Board, putting her leadership skills into action right here at Swartz Creek.

Way to represent the Dragons, Amalia! We’re proud of your dedication to leadership and personal growth! ❤️🤍

🎉 Congratulations to SCHS Class of 2024 alumna Emily Hurd! ❤️🤍

A huge RPL congratulations to Emily Hurd (Event & Recreation Management major) as the 2026 recipient of the William Brehm Tourism Scholarship ($1,000!) presented by the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. Emily joins an incredible legacy as an RPL major or minor has received this scholarship in 19 of the last 20 years! FUNDS IN FINCH 🔥👆💵

Creativity is taking center stage in Mrs. Perrault’s Drawing class at Swartz Creek High School!

Students kicked off their projects by creating their own Original Characters (OCs), bringing unique personalities and styles to life through their artwork.

They then shifted their focus to drawing spheres, practicing shading, depth, and dimension.

And the best part? Their artwork made its way beyond the classroom! Several student pieces were displayed at Churchill’s downtown for last week’s First Friday Art Walk.

We love seeing our talented Dragons share their creativity with the community.

❤️🤍 New Dragon Spotlight ❤️🤍

Meet Victoria Pendelton, one of our newest Dragons! Victoria joined Swartz Creek Community Schools earlier this month as an Exceptional Learning Teacher (Special Education) at SCMS.

Victoria brings more than 15 years of experience in education, having served in a variety of roles throughout her career.

As a member of the Swartz Creek community, Victoria was drawn to the opportunity to serve right here at home. Inspired by her parents, who were community leaders within the Flint school system, she grew up understanding the importance of giving back and making a difference.

A few highlights from Victoria’s life include meeting basketball legend Meadowlark Lemon and participating in a basketball session with former NBA player and coach Doug Collins, where she even found herself debating with Rick Mahorn!

And something few people know about Victoria? She enjoys singing opera! 🎶

All those hours of practice and hard work throughout the season paid off last night as our Dragons earned STRAIGHT 1’s at the MSBOA District 3 Marching Band Festival!
