Main Street in Auburn is open 🎉

⚠️ATTENTION⚠️:
Main Street in Auburn is still closed. There is no thru way. Road closure is at the firehouse and at the bridge by the county line. There is a tree down in the middle of the roadway. Please use an alternate route. Again, you will NOT be able to drive straight through town at this time.

We sometimes hear concerns like “it took too long to respond”—especially when it comes to certain fire alarms. So here’s a quick breakdown of what actually happens when a fire call comes in:

1. The Call Is Made – A fire alarm (manual or automatic) triggers a signal to a monitoring company, who then contacts Morris County Communications Center or Parsippany Police.

2. 911 Dispatch – Morris County or Parsippany dispatchers receive the information, confirm the address and type of alarm, and tone out the appropriate fire departments over the radio.

3. Volunteer Response – Our members are not in a firehouse 24/7. They stop what they’re doing—whether at work, home, or with family—and drive to the firehouse to staff the trucks.

4. Crew Assembles – We don turnout gear, mount the apparatus, and hit the road—usually in about 6-8 minutes from the time the pager sounds.

5. Arrival & Investigation – Once on scene, we assess the situation. Many commercial fire alarms are triggered by dust, heat, steam, or maintenance—but we treat each one as the real thing until proven otherwise.

It may seem like it takes a while from the outside, but what you’re witnessing is an entire fire department mobilizing from scratch—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 100% volunteer.

We appreciate your patience and your support—and we’ll keep showing up, ready for whatever comes next.

Locals beware. Apparently 5 more cars stolen last night.

In the past week, we’ve had multiple vehicles stolen—all with the keys left inside.

These stolen vehicles are often used by criminals to commit more serious crimes, using the anonymity of a stolen car to avoid detection.

Please do your part to help prevent further incidents:

Remove your keys from your vehicle
Take valuables inside
Always lock your doors
Report suspicious and/or criminal activity without delay

Don’t make it easy. Let’s not become a soft target.

Stay alert. Stay safe.

Note: Our Detective and Patrol Divisions are actively pursuing and investigating all leads. We do not take this lightly and will do everything in our power to ensure these suspects are brought to justice.
