🚨 SCAM ALERT: DON’T BECOME A VICTIM 🚨
The Woolwich Township Police Department is warning residents about a significant increase in scams involving callers and emails demanding payment through Bitcoin, gift cards, gold, or cash.
Over the last month, the Woolwich Township Police Department has received reports involving more than $2 MILLION in fraud losses.
⚠️ STOP — THINK — VERIFY!
Scammers may pose as:
Police officers or other law enforcement
Government agencies
Banks or financial institutions
Family members or friends
Attorneys or other trusted professionals
They may pressure you into making an immediate payment and tell you to purchase gift cards, send Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency, purchase gold, or provide cash.
Remember: Legitimate government agencies and law enforcement will NOT demand payment through gift cards, Bitcoin, gold, or cash to resolve an alleged warrant, fine, investigation, or emergency.
If you receive a suspicious call or email:
✅ Do not send money or provide personal information.
✅ Do not purchase gift cards or cryptocurrency at the caller’s direction.
✅ Hang up and independently verify who contacted you.
✅ Talk to a trusted family member or friend before making any payment.
✅ Contact the Woolwich Township Police Department if you believe you are being targeted.

Our 2026 Youth Police Academy has officially come to a close!

Over the past three days, our recruits had the opportunity to experience a glimpse into the life of a police officer. Their days were packed with physical training, drill and marching, classroom instruction, hands-on activities, and, of course, the legendary Botto's lunches that kept everyone fueled throughout the week!

We want to thank each and every recruit for their enthusiasm, hard work, and positive attitude. Most importantly, we want to thank their parents for allowing us to spend these three days with their children. It is a privilege to be a small part of their lives, and we hope they leave with lasting memories, new friendships, and a greater appreciation for law enforcement and public service.

🚲 ATTENTION RESIDENTS: NEW JERSEY E-BIKE LAW UPDATE 🚲

If you own or ride an electric bicycle (e-bike), there are important changes to New Jersey law that you should know.

New Jersey's new e-bike law requires:

✅ Riders must be at least 15 years old.
Riders ages 15-16 must obtain an e-bike license if they do not have a driver's license.
Riders 17 and older with a valid driver's license do not need a separate e-bike license.
✅ All e-bikes must be registered with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC).
✅ Helmet use is required for all e-bike riders, regardless of age.
✅ Insurance is required only for motorized bicycles. Low-speed electric bicycles do not require insurance.
🚦 E-bike riders are also expected to obey the same traffic laws as other vehicles, including:
• Stop at stop signs and red lights.
• Ride in the same direction as traffic.
• Yield to pedestrians.
• Avoid distracted riding and never carry more passengers than the bike is designed for.

These new requirements are intended to improve safety for riders, pedestrians, and motorists while helping ensure everyone shares the road responsibly.

🚨 Community Safety Reminder 🚨

Over the weekend, our community experienced several motor vehicle burglaries and two vehicle thefts. In each case, the vehicles were left unlocked, and the stolen vehicles had keys left inside.

As a community, we all need to stay vigilant and take simple steps to protect our property. Please remember to:🔒 Lock your vehicle doors🔑 Never leave your keys inside your vehicle💼 Remove valuables from your car, day or night

The Woolwich Township Police Department is actively investigating several suspects connected to these recent burglaries. Officers are also conducting dozens of additional patrols throughout our neighborhoods, but we cannot be everywhere at once.

If you see anything suspicious, please call 911.

A few seconds of prevention can make a big difference. Please help keep our neighborhood safe.

We were honored to serve as the Gloucester County stop for Chapter 2 of the Police Unity Tour this past weekend as riders continued their journey to Washington, D.C. in honor of our fallen law enforcement officers.

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to come out and support the riders and the tremendous mission they represent. The outpouring of support from the community, elected officials, and fellow law enforcement officers was truly appreciated.

We are especially proud of our own Ptl. Lindsay Deputy for participating in this year’s tour and representing our agency throughout this meaningful journey.

We wish all of the riders safe travels as they continue on to Washington, D.C., and thank them for their commitment to ensuring the sacrifices of our fallen heroes are never forgotten.
