This day of remembrance is but one part of what makes the freedom we enjoy in our country so remarkable. That so may would pay the ultimate sacrifice for those they would never know. We hope that you and yours have had an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful day and perhaps reflect on those that payed that price.

As some of you may know, a good friend of the District, Lewis Bybee, recently passed away. Lewis was one of the earliest Paramedics here and was an integral part of our history, even operating as Director for a good number of years. Since I have taken the helm here, Lewis became a welcome visitor here at the station. We had many great discussions about the history and future of our service. Lewis’s family graciously accepted donations for the district in his memory during his services We’ve used that money to purchase a tool to help us provide faster and more thorough services for the community we serve in the form of a thermal imaging camera. I firmly believe Lewis would be excited to know we’ve expanded or capability to provide care for the community, and his memory and legacy will live on in several ways for us, not only with this tool, but with the District’s decision to name our new station in his memory. There’s more to come soon on an open house and dedication for that! Personally, I’ll miss the visits we had, he was a genuinely good fellow that carried a true and honest interest in seeing the service grow and succeed in serving our community.

The snow might be the news maker, but the cold air that’s coming is going to pose a serious risk for anyone exposed or without power. Make sure be weather aware and check on those that may need help.

Cold air is still on track. We have expanded the Winter Storm Watch northward. Accumulating snow is becoming more likely. The northern edge of snowfall is still uncertain.

While the chances of our immediate area seeing precipitation are low, the cold is going to be the real risk for the next two few days. Be aware of unexpected ice and check on the elderly and home bound that you know.
