ACCEPTING SEALED BIDS
WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT OF SALINE AND
PETTIS COUNTIES
The West Central Missouri Fire Protection District of Saline and Pettis Counties is accepting
sealed bids for the 2026, 2027, & 2028 mowing seasons at both the Sweet Springs and
Blackburn locations. This can be a single or multi year bid. Bids will be received until
5:00pm April 3, 2026 and opened April 7, 2026. Interested persons can obtain a bid sheet
containing the requirements from Allison Schowengerdt, 204 N Mulberry St, Sweet Springs,
MO 65351 or by calling 660-909-6632. The District reserves the right to reject any or all

Today we got to attend Basic Grain Engulfment Rescue training with other agencies around the area. Thanks to Wellington - Napoleon Fire Protection District for hosting the training and the hospitality.

This morning at approximately 2:50 crews were toned to a possible semi trailer on fire. Upon going en route to the station crews were given an update that the semi trailer was fully engulfed. We had both stations help during this incident! When crews arrived on scene we immediately began to put the fire out. However, with very flammable material inside the trailer it was a challenge! Crews remained on scene for about 7 hours and Interstate 70 was shut down during that time to allow crews to access the full trailer and not worry about anything else catching fire or damages. We would like to give a big shootout to the Sweet Springs Ambulance District, Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Sweet Springs Police Department for all the assistance!!
