This initiative recognizes agencies for the effectiveness of their traffic safety efforts. The Challenge promotes a comprehensive, data-driven approach that encompasses policy, training, public education, officer recognition, enforcement, and participation in Florida Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) Program initiatives. This award honors agencies with outstanding traffic safety programs, innovative practices, and the “best of the best” in traffic safety across Florida.

History in the making for the Sweetwater Police Department.

For the first time ever, lieutenants are officially included in the Police Benevolent Association collective bargaining agreement, a landmark achievement that strengthens representation, recognizes leadership, and reinforces the department’s commitment to fairness, unity, and progress.

This agreement represents more than a signature on paper; it reflects the dedication, professionalism, and hard work of the men and women who serve the City of Sweetwater every day. Today’s signing marks a new chapter for the department and a stronger voice for its leadership ranks moving forward. Mayor Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Chief Sergio Diez are proud to witness this historic moment for the Sweetwater Police Department and the PBA.

In observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day this weekend, the City of Sweetwater Police Department honored the life and sacrifice of Sgt. James Beasley during this morning’s memorial ceremony.

We were honored to stand alongside Sgt. Beasley’s family, whose presence reminded us of the true sacrifice behind the badge. We thank the Beasley family for joining us in remembrance.
