Did you receive this notice with your most recent water bill? Here's why...

The Town recently received a monitoring violation for failing to collect/report two water samples in time to meet NC requirements.

These samples are intended to measure two common byproducts of the drinking water treatment process (TTHM and HAA5). The Town is required to collect these two samples quarterly and send them off to a lab for testing. The lab then performs the appropriate tests and submits the results to the NC Drinking Water Division.

The required "monitoring period" for these samples was between April 1st and June 30th, with a "secondary requirement" that they be pulled within the month of May. The Town collected the samples on June 30th, sent them to the lab, and received passing results on all samples.

In the coming days, the Town will begin mapping water meters throughout the entire service area. As part of this process, you will notice crews (wearing AWCK vests) visually inspecting or using equipment to locate your meter. Once located, additional equipment will be used to plot the coordinates. This process should take just a few minutes and at no time will your service be impacted. It’s estimated the entire process could take a couple of weeks pending several variables.

If any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at Town Hall 336-578-5644

As a reminder, crews will be in the area of East Main St today (Friday, May 29th) to begin paving. This will be a multi-step process, with the final overlay currently scheduled for next week.
