We are currently experiencing an issue with dogs running at large in town. Beginning immediately, the City will be strictly enforcing the dog leash ordinance.
For the safety of our community and pets, all dogs must be properly restrained in accordance with city regulations.
If you would like a copy of the ordinance, it is available for pickup at City Hall during regular business hours.
Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping our town safe. 🐾

The patrolman works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police. A Swifton police officer is a highly visible, critical public safety individual and must be committed to excellence, professionalism and community service. We are seeking those who possess integrity, dedication, honesty, moral character and sound judgment.

The patrol officer is responsible for enforcement of traffic and criminal laws.
Candidates must undergo a hiring process which includes a stringent background investigation/security clearance, psychological evaluation, a structured interview, drug screening, and other testing according to the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a valid Driver's License (Must have Arkansas Driver’s License by date of hire)
- No Criminal Convictions
-Prefer Full-Time Certified

Critical Competencies and Skills:
- Knowledge of law enforcement practices, methods, and techniques
- Knowledge of traffic and criminal laws, and departmental regulations and procedures
Maintains control of persons by use of minimal force needed in required situations-
- Possesses basic computer skills
- Ability to properly prepare and write police reports
- Communicates and maintains a good rapport within the community

Being able to shoot fireworks is a privilege that is allowed in Swifton. If you are shooting fireworks, please make sure all trash from doing so is cleaned up. DO NOT leave any firework trash in the roadway. If you are caught not complying with this request, it could result in a citation.

In the event of severe weather this evening and a TORNADO WATCH is to be issued for Jackson County, the storm shelter at the Swifton Middle School, located behind the gym, will be open.
PLEASE NOTE: There is ABSOLUTELY NO ANIMALS OR HORSEPLAY ALLOWED OF ANY KIND. There will be police and fire personnel there, and this rule will be STRICTLY enforced.
We ask that you please respect the property inside the building.

There will be a lot of children out and about tomorrow night with trick or treating going on locally. Please slow down, watch for the children, and don't be driving while distracted on your electronic devices. We will have extra officers out to ensure the safety of everyone, especially the children. We hope everyone has a safe and fun filled Halloween! Be sure that if you see us out to stop us, we will be handing out candy from our patrol units!

🍂The City of Swifton will be hosting our annual Harvest Carnival on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Safety is our first and top priority. Main Street from First Street to East Second will be closed from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

**⚠️DETOUR⚠️**
You may take Walnut Street and make a right onto East Second.

👮‍♂️You may park anywhere around the park or anywhere else you can find an available spot. DO NOT BLOCK THE FIRE STATION OR THE GAS PUMPS AT THE GAS STATION. They will need to be able to conduct business. We ask that you do not park on anyone’s private property or block a driveway without permission from the property owner.
