🚓💙 National Night Out is Tuesday, August 4!💙🚓

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that brings neighbors and law enforcement together to strengthen relationships, promote crime prevention, and build safer, stronger neighborhoods. It's a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, spend time outdoors, and get to know the officers who serve your community.

Are you hosting a National Night Out block party? We'd love to stop by!

The Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department is looking forward to visiting National Night Out gatherings throughout Swissvale and Braddock Hills. If you're hosting a block party, comment below with your location and approximate time, and we'll do our best to stop by and say hello.

🚨 Community Reminder: Lock Your Vehicles 🚨

We have recently seen an increase in vehicle break-ins/thefts throughout our area.

Please help protect yourself by taking a few simple precautions:

🔒 Always lock your vehicle, even if it's parked in your driveway.
💼 Remove all valuables, ESPECIALLY wallets, purses, electronics, cash, and fi****ms.
🔑 Never leave your keys or key fobs inside your vehicle.
🛞 If possible, use a steering wheel lock as an added layer of protection.
🚗 Close all windows and ensure your vehicle is secure before leaving it unattended.

Many vehicle break-ins are crimes of opportunity. A few extra seconds to secure your vehicle can go a long way toward preventing theft.

If you notice suspicious activity or witness someone attempting to enter vehicles, please call 911 immediately.

The Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Maywood for her exceptional courage, professionalism, and decisive actions during a critical incident on July 5, 2026.

While assisting Eastern Regional Police during a barricaded suspect incident involving an individual believed to be armed with both a knife and a firearm, Officer Maywood was assigned to secure the perimeter of the residence. Approximately one and one-half hours into the standoff, Officer Maywood observed the suspect unexpectedly emerge from the alley behind the residence.

Without hesitation, Officer Maywood pursued the suspect on foot, engaged in a physical struggle, and successfully took him into custody, preventing his escape and helping bring a dangerous incident to a safe conclusion.

The Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department proudly commends Officer Maywood for her outstanding service and extends its sincere appreciation for her commitment to the highest traditions of law enforcement. Her actions bring great credit upon herself, the Department, and the law enforcement profession.

Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route while crews work to make repairs.

Last night marked a proud milestone for the Swissvale-Braddock Hills Regional Police Department as Interim Chief David Zacchia officially took the oath of office and was appointed as our Chief of Police, effective August 4, 2026. We also proudly welcomed Officers William Spangler, Isabella Cutrulla, Bryce Lynch, Nicolaus Marchando, and Dennis Lynch as they were sworn in to serve our communities.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our officers for their professionalism, commitment, and resilience throughout the merger process. Your willingness to embrace change has helped build a stronger department for the communities of Swissvale and Braddock Hills.

To the families of our officers, thank you for your unwavering support, patience, and sacrifices. Your encouragement behind the scenes makes our mission possible each and every day.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our Police Commission, municipal officials, staff, and the many community members who have supported us throughout this transition.

Congratulations to Chief David Zacchia on officially taking the oath as Chief of Police. We are confident that his leadership, experience, and dedication will continue to move our department forward.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this historic occasion. Together, we look forward to serving our communities with professionalism, integrity, and pride.
