Open Arms Christian Ministries We are dedicated to helping at-risk kids through our foster care program, residential group home for girls and boys.

Our Miriam Home specializes in serving abandoned, abused, delinquent, & neglected female youth. Our HEbron Home specializes in serving abandoned, abused, delinquent, & neglected male youth. Our Comprehensive Foster Care program serves both male and female youth in providing a safe environment to help them become personally and socially responsible. We also offer Foster Parent Training & Licensing.

Open Arms has maintained the responsibility to be selective in its screening process while recruiting potential loving, Christian foster parents.

Last week, our Miriam Home residents had the opportunity to spend the week at Camp Illiana, and what a blessing it was!

They spent their days growing in their faith, building new friendships, worshiping alongside fellow believers, and enjoying all the fun and adventures camp has to offer. More than just a week away, camp provided meaningful experiences and memories that will stay with these young ladies for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful to Smithville Christian Church for providing camp scholarships that made this opportunity possible. Thank you for investing in the lives of our girls and helping create moments that will have a lasting impact!!

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, mentors, and father figures who make a lasting impact in the lives of children and youth.

At Open Arms, we see firsthand how life changing a caring, consistent adult can be. A father figure who shows up, listens, encourages, and loves can help shape a young person's future in powerful ways.

We are grateful for the men who invest their time, wisdom, and hearts into the next generation. Whether through parenting, mentoring, volunteering, coaching, or simply being present, your influence matters more than you may ever know.

We couldn't let the day pass without recognizing Marcie Dierdorf on her 24th work anniversary with Open Arms! 🎉
Over the past 24 years, Marcie has served in many different roles and held many different titles. Through every season, one thing has remained the same... her unwavering dedication to serving children and youth in need.
Her compassion, commitment, and heart for this ministry have impacted countless lives over the years. We are incredibly grateful for all she has done and continues to do.

❤️ A Lesson That Stuck ❤️
Recently, one of the girls at Miriam Home created several paintings and gifted them to staff members. At first glance, you might notice the familiar words of John 3:16. But look a little closer. Instead of "the world," she replaced it with the staff member's name.
This wasn't something she came up with on her own. During a Bible study led by a wonderful group of volunteers, the girls learned a powerful truth: while John 3:16 tells us that God loves the world, it is also deeply personal. God knows each of us by name, and He loves each of us so much that He gave His one and only Son.
What makes this painting so special is that this young lady took what she learned, understood it, and then shared that truth with others through a heartfelt gift.
Moments like these remind us why volunteers matter. They are not just leading lessons or giving their time. They are planting seeds of truth, hope, and faith that continue to grow long after the Bible study ends.
To our incredible volunteers: thank you for the difference you make in the lives of the girls at Miriam Home. Your impact is greater than you know. 💕

We are so excited to have our garden back at the Miriam Home for another year!

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers who spent time with our girls helping plant the garden and teaching them about gardening along the way. Not only are they learning how to grow vegetables and flowers, but they're also learning patience, responsibility, and the joy that comes from caring for something and watching it grow.

We are so grateful for the volunteers who invest their time, knowledge, and hearts into the lives of these girls. Thank you for helping make memories and life lessons that will last far beyond this growing season! 🌱💚

Last week, our Miriam Home girls enjoyed some simple summer fun. From sharing a picnic at the park, spending a day at the beach, playing basketball, and making memories together. Seeing them laugh, connect, and just be kids is such a blessing.

As we look ahead to the rest of the summer, we have even more fun activities and special outings planned. These experiences do more than provide entertainment. They help create positive memories, build relationships, and give our girls opportunities to grow and heal.

Our Miriam Home girls are getting ready to create dream boards as they explore their goals, hopes, and dreams for the future. To make this activity possible, we are looking for magazines that the girls can cut apart and use for their boards.

If you have any magazines you no longer need, we would be so grateful for your donation!

Magazines can be dropped off at our office Monday–Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If those hours don't work for you, send us a message and we'll be happy to arrange another drop off time.

Help the Miriam Home girls have a summer filled with fun, laughter, and memories they’ll never forget. ☀️💜

Open Arms is currently seeking monetary and in-kind donations to help make special summer activities possible for the girls at the Miriam Home. Our hope is to plan one special outing each week this summer. Donations will help cover activities like Urban Air, a trip to the zoo, movies, putt putt, swimming, visiting state parks, and more.

We are also looking for in-kind donations from individuals or businesses. This could include donated tickets, gift cards, or fun items for the house like art supplies, outdoor games, and water activities.
