🛍️ Help Us Fill the Treasure Closet! 🛍️
Did you know the girls at the Miriam Home have their very own Treasure Closet?

Once a week, the girls have the opportunity to “shop” in the closet using House Bucks they have earned. They earn House Bucks for things like completing chores, making good choices, having positive behaviors, doing well in school and other accomplishments.

The Treasure Closet is more than just a place to pick out fun things. 💕 It’s part of a rewards system that encourages positive choices while also teaching the girls about responsibility, saving and working toward something they want.

Sometimes a girl may see a larger item she really wants and decide to save her House Bucks for several weeks so she can earn enough to get it. We want the items in the closet to be things the girls are actually excited about and have requested.

And that’s where you can help!

✨ We’re looking for a few people who want to help make the 2027 Open Arms Gala special!

Every year, our Gala takes a lot of people behind the scenes to make it happen. From planning and finding sponsors to collecting auction donations, setting up the day of the event, and all the little things in between, there are so many ways to be part of it.

We’re looking for a few people who would be willing to jump in and help. You don’t have to have Gala experience, and you don’t have to know exactly where you fit. Maybe you have connections with local businesses. Maybe you’re great at asking for donations. Maybe you’d rather help set up on event day. Or maybe you just want to say, “Tell me where you need me.”

Over the weekend, the Miriam Home girls had fun painting pumpkins! 🎃🍂 And of course, enjoyed a caramel apple while they worked on their masterpieces.

But the funniest part? They asked to listen to Christmas music while painting their pumpkins! 😂

So, while it may be "happy fall y’all"... it’s also "beginning to look a lot like Christmas"! 🎶🎃🎄

This past Sunday, we had the privilege of sharing about Open Arms at First Baptist Church of Bloomfield and Switz City Christian Church. ❤️

We are so grateful for the opportunity to spend time with these congregations, share what God is doing through Open Arms, and thank them for the ways they faithfully support our ministry.

We love getting to connect with churches, Sunday School classes, missions teams, and small groups who want to learn more about how they can be involved in caring for Indiana children.

Yesterday, we were blessed to have an amazing youth group from First Baptist of Shelburn come out to the Miriam Home and spend their Saturday serving with us! 🥰

Over the summer, we experienced some flooding caused by tree roots that had grown into our water lines. Some trees had to be removed to help prevent it from happening again, and yesterday this incredible group helped us trim back the tree line and clean up the outdoor areas.

We are so grateful they chose to spend part of their Saturday serving Open Arms and helping care for the Miriam Home. These acts of service may seem like a simple Saturday project, but they make a real difference in the ministry we are able to do here.

One of the things we love most about Open Arms is the incredible community that comes alongside us. So many people pray for us, give, volunteer, encourage our staff, and believe in the work God is doing here. We want you to have the opportunity to see that work firsthand.

But we also know there are many people in our community who have never heard of Open Arms or may not really know what we do.

That’s why we’re opening the doors.

Today, two of our staff members, Beccah Dieball and Alyse Rick, had the opportunity to sit down with WTWO Good Day Live host Julie Henricks to share more about the ministry of Open Arms!

They talked about our upcoming Miriam Home Open House this Saturday from 9 AM–noon, as well as the many ways our community can come alongside the kids we serve.

Whether you’re interested in volunteering, looking for employment, wanting to become a donor, or simply learning more about what we do, there’s a place for everyone to be part of the Open Arms family. ❤️
