The DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder’s Office extends condolences on the passing of John W. Castle, DeKalb County’s first elected County Board Chair, who served from May 1972 through December 1976.

Mr. Castle played an important role in the early years of DeKalb County’s modern county government structure, and his service remains part of our county’s history.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Castle during a County Board Chair and Vice-Chair reunion in 2019, and I am grateful to have had the chance to hear firsthand stories from those who helped shape DeKalb County Government over the years.

We honor his service and extend our sympathy to his family and loved ones.

Well…the weather definitely tried us this week! ❄️🌬️

But despite that, we had a smooth, steady, and successful Election Day here in DeKalb County, and that doesn’t happen by accident!

I am so incredibly grateful for:
🔹Our amazing staff – the long hours, preparation, and problem-solving never go unnoticed.
🔹Our dedicated Election Judges – you are truly the backbone of every Election.
🔹Our Voters – thank you for showing up and making your voices heard, even with less-than-ideal conditions.
🔹All of our polling places and the behind-the-scenes helpers who step in wherever needed to make the day run seamlessly.

A couple extra shoutouts to share:
Blackhawk Moving and Storage - You are simply the best! Heading out the day before Election Day in a blizzard to make sure everything was delivered…we can’t thank you enough!

Le Print Express - Thank you for helping bring our “I Voted” stickers to life! It has been so fun hearing all the positive feedback. 😊

And how cute is this cookie from Sweet Dreams Desserts?! One of our Election Judges had them made, and yes, it was just as delicious as it looked!

It truly takes a community to run an election, and I’m so proud of ours.
