Hot off the press! We just got news that 5 Guys Burgers would like to do a fundraiser benefiting SMS TONIGHT! If you are interested in supporting Sycamore Middle School (and you love delicious burgers), be sure to stop for Dinner at 5 Guys in Dekalb tonight between 4-9 PM.

Most importantly: When ordering tell the cashier you are there for the fundraiser.

Yesterday, 7th graders had the honor to hear from a second-generation Holocaust speaker, whose family escaped Poland just 6 months before World War II began. Her parents faced discrimination, danger, and fear after a pogrom forced her father to close his business. Thanks to courage, determination, and the help of others, her family was able to come to the United States in 1939.

Hearing her family’s story reminded us how important it is to stand up against hate, respect others, and learn from history so events like the Holocaust are never forgotten. Thank you to our guest speaker for sharing her family’s powerful story with us.

Let’s hear it for these kids!!! 🎉 This weekend our Spartan Special Olympics team traveled to Harlem High School to compete in the Region A Track and Field Tournament. We had 8 athletes make it to the State Games in Bloomington in June! Congratulations to all!

Middle School Athletes:
Jaz Silva: bronze in softball and gold in long jump
Kayden Shackelford: bronze in long jump and 50 m
Dylan Zabler: gold in 50m and gold in mini javelin
Elario Cristancho: gold in 50 m run and bronze in long jump
Matthew Beach: silver in long jump and bronze in softball throw
Liam Craig: medal in tennis ball throw and 10 m walk
