🦆

Today’s crew responded after a passerby on the Great Western Trail noticed a family of ducklings trapped inside a storm drain.

After locating the chatty little ducks, firefighters carefully rescued each duckling and safely relocated them to a nearby creek, where they were successfully reunited with their very patient and concerned mother.

While we’re always prepared for emergencies big and small, it’s not every day that our responders get to help some of Sycamore’s smallest residents. A big thank you to the observant citizen who took the time to call for help and helped ensure this story had a happy ending!

We are 1 week away from our Ribbon Cutting ceremony! Join us on Friday, June 5th, at 2pm for the official Grand-Opening of our Fire Station 1 Headquarters at 1351 S. Prairie Drive. Meet your firefighters, enjoy light refreshments and tour the new facility.

Parking in the Station 1 lot will be limited to emergency vehicles, staff and those with accessibility needs. Additional parking is available on S. Prairie Drive or at South Prairie Elementary School (indicated in Yellow on the map below). While there is no direct pathway from the school to the station, access can be made through the grass.

We hope to see you all there!

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask our community to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

From all of us at the Sycamore Fire Department, we thank our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward each day.
