⚠️From our friends at Dekalb County Government and Dekalb County Highway Department⚠️

🚧 Road Closure Notice 🚧

Beginning the week of September 13th, Peace Road will be closed between IL Route 64 and Freed Road for approximately one week.

Weather permitting, the contractor will be pouring the west half of the bridge deck. Traffic will need to remain off the bridge while the concrete joint has time to fully cure.

🚗 A marked detour will be provided using Motel Road and Freed Road. Delays may occur during busy times of the day, so drivers may also want to consider using IL Route 23 and IL Route 64 through Sycamore as an alternate route.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your trip. Thank you for your patience and understanding as this work continues.

Our 11-week Citizens Police Academy gives members of our community the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get a firsthand look at the people, training, equipment, and operations of the Sheriff’s Office.

You’ll have the opportunity to:
🔹 Meet our deputies and staff
🔹 Learn about Patrol, Investigations, Dispatch, Corrections, ESDA, the Coroner, and much more
🔹 Get an inside look at law enforcement training
🔹 See demonstrations and equipment
🔹 Learn more about the criminal justice system and take a tour of the Courthouse
🔹 Ask questions and have open conversations with our deputies
🔹 Get a better understanding of what it takes to serve our community

The Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help locating a missing person. He is missing from the area of Somonauk Rd and Gurler Rd just south of Cortland. He was last seen wearing a white t shirt and blue sweatpants. He was last seen around 2:50pm on 9/2. If located, please call the Dekalb County Sheriff's Office at 815-895-2155 or dial 911.

Congratulations on Your Retirement, Lieutenant McRoberts!



Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Erin McRoberts on her retirement from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. On August 31, 2026, Lt. McRoberts retired after an incredible 31 years of dedicated service.



Lt. McRoberts began her career in 1995 as a part-time Corrections Deputy before becoming full-time in 1996. She briefly served in our Communications Division for two years, before returning to Corrections in December 2000, where she found her true passion for serving others.



She was promoted to Corrections Sergeant in January 2013 and Corrections Lieutenant in May 2021.



Thank you, Lt. McRoberts, for 31 years of commitment, leadership, and service to the Sheriff’s Office and our community. We wish you a happy and well-deserved retirement!

Please join us in congratulating Misty Odom on her promotion to Corrections Lieutenant!
A 21-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Odom has dedicated her entire career to the Corrections Division. She served as a Corrections Deputy before being promoted to Corrections Sergeant on May 10, 2022, and now takes on her new role as Lieutenant.
Thank you, Lt. Odom, for your years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment. Congratulations on this well-deserved promotion!

🚨SCAM ALERT— PHONE NUMBER SPOOFING🚨
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has received reports that an individual is spoofing our phone number, 815-895-2155, and identifying themselves as “Sgt. Eric Westfall,” badge # 95-450.

The caller is reportedly telling victims that they missed a federal grand jury date, that a warrant has been issued for their arrest, and that they must withdraw money to avoid arrest.

THIS IS A SCAM.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office does not have an employee by the name of Eric Westfall and our office will never request that you withdraw money or send payment through Western Union, Apple Gift Cards, cryptocurrency, or any other money transfer service.

Please remember:
🔹 Do not provide personal, financial, or other sensitive information to unsolicited callers.
🔹 Do not send money or purchase gift cards at the direction of someone claiming to be law enforcement.
🔹 Caller ID can be spoofed, so seeing the Sheriff’s Office phone number does not mean the call is actually from our office.
🔹 If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and independently contact the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office or your local police department.

If you believe you have been scammed and lost money, please contact your local law enforcement agency and report the incident.
