🎓👏 Congratulations to the graduates of the Addiction Treatment Protocol (ATP) at Maryland Correctional Institution for Women (MCIW)!

ATP is a six-month, outpatient Level I treatment program designed to provide participants with support and tools to address substance use and make positive changes to prepare for healthier, more successful lives after incarceration.

Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI) recently hosted a Music Benefit Banquet, bringing incarcerated individuals together to celebrate the spirit of giving and support a meaningful cause.

Funds raised through the charitable event will benefit House Of Ruth Maryland, Inc., supporting the organization’s work to help individuals and families impacted by intimate partner violence.

DPSCS is proud to recognize the generosity and community-minded spirit behind this effort and the positive impact it will make beyond the walls of JCI. 👏🎵

🎓👏 Congratulations, Class 26-06!

DPSCS staff, family, and friends proudly celebrated the commencement of Correctional Officer Class 26-06.

More than 30 new correctional officers will now serve in high-need areas across Maryland, helping strengthen staffing and enhance safety in our correctional facilities.

Secretary of Budget and Management Jake Weissman recently joined DPSCS Secretary Carolyn J. Scruggs for a tour of Maryland Correctional Institution for Women (MCIW) and Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI) to learn more about Maryland Correctional Enterprises (MCE) and the work taking place in its shops. 👏

The tour highlighted the valuable skills, training, and work experience available through MCE programs, which help prepare individuals for successful reentry and future employment opportunities. 💙

Staff at Western Correctional Institution (WCI) came together to donate two overflowing boxes of school supplies to Allegany County’s "Stuff the Bus" initiative in LaVale!

Lt. Floyd “Chip” Benson and CMSII Armand Smithberger delivered the supplies to support students across Allegany County preparing for the new school year.

DPSCS recently showcased its new body-worn cameras, following the completion of the statewide rollout across Maryland’s prisons on July 2nd.

In the first month following the rollout, all assaults across the system declined by 34% compared to July 2025.

Body-worn cameras provide an additional layer of transparency and accountability while helping document interactions, support safety, and provide an objective record when incidents occur.

This technology marks another step forward in DPSCS’s commitment to modernizing operations, strengthening safety, and promoting accountability across our facilities. 🛡️📹
