Today was the perfect ending to our summer here at Summer Art Classes for Kids. We completed our self portraits adding some great summertime memories in the lenses of our sunglasses. Its been a fun summer of creativity with these young artists. Special thanks to my amazing assistant, Grace Brown!!

Today at Summer Art Classes for Kids we completed our collage fish and they turned out fantastic. Today was a day if high energy creativity as we played with lots of different materials to create an environment for our beautiful fish. Next week is our last summer art class. In today's art class at Summer Art Classes for Kids we began our fish collages. With one main color in mind we chose different pattern papers, sparkle papers and solid papers to cut out all of our scales. After gluing down our scales we will add fins, tails and eyes. Then we will place your fish in an underwater environment addding bubbles, sand, seaweed, coral and maybe even more fish. So far the colors, textures and shapes of these fish are awesome. I cant wait to see them when we finish. Stay tuned...

Fantastic Fish Collage- Kids design a colorful fish using patterned and textured paper! They'll cut, layer and arrange shapes to form fins, scales and tails. This project blends collage, design and imagination turning simple materials into splashy sea creatures full of personality.

This week's lesson at Summer Art Classes for Kids focused on LINE.
We began with a continuous line drawing of flowers in glass bottles. Observation was key in locating the edges and recreating the shapes of the objects. Next we moved to blind contour drawings of shoes, challenging us to draw without seeing our papers, only looking at the shoe. In our scissor drawings we observed negative spaces and focused on just drawing those. Another contour drawing of a striped shirt forced us the see how the stripes create the actual shape of the shirt without the outline. Finally we spent time outdoors doing shadow drawings, a fun activity that focuses on contour drawings of plants and toy animals. No masterpieces were made, we simply honed our observation skills; therefore increasing our drawing skills while having fun.

Next week at Summer Art Classes for Kids ... Explore the basics of contour drawing with line and enhance your drawing abilities. Through repeated practice, we will hone our drawing and observation skills, ultimately improving our capacity to draw more realistically from life. If your child loves to draw and doodles all the time this class is perfect for them. Join us Tuesday and Wednesday from. 9 to 11 as we explore all different types of drawing.

Today's art classes were amazing. We had 2 groups and each one was uniquely creative. After exploring coral reefs and demonstrating a few ways to simulate coral we set to work creating our own little sculptures. We used pasta, pipe cleaners, toothpicks, beads, shells, q-tips, pom poms, chalk, Styrofoam balls, and clay. Imaginations soared and the air was electric with creativity. This was just the first class, tomorrow we paint the pasta and create sea creatures and fish to inhabit our coral reefs. What a great day!!

Today we explored space in our art class together. We imagined what a planet would look like from an alien's point of view while flying around im space. We utilized the rules of perspective to add buildings reaching out to the stars. Our next step is to add color, details and the background of deep space.
