Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Noah Wimmer for completing The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Academy!

Noah and the other Deputies of Session 73 have spent the last 4 months tirelessly learning what it takes, and training to be a Deputy Sheriff!

This marks the beginning of Noah’s professional career as he begins his service here in Talladega County as a Sheriff’s Deputy. Noah is a gleaming example of our memebers and their dedication to serving their community. While not only volunteering as a Firefighter but, he will now be working full time as a sheriff’s deputy serving and protecting his community.

Congratulations Noah. All of us here are proud of you and your accomplishments!

🚨❌NO BRUNING FOR THE NEXT WEEK ❌🚨

The Alabama Forestry Commission has issued a statewide Fire Alert, effective until at least April 20.

State Forester Rick Oates issued the Fire Alert due to worsening drought conditions across the state, combined with low relative humidity.

The Forestry Commission says 387 wildfires have burned 15,850 acres of forestland across the state in the last month.

Permits for outdoor burning will be restricted only to Certified Prescribed Burn Managers.

Per the State Fire Marshall’s office, Anyone who burns a field, grassland or woodland without a burn permit may be subject to prosecution for committing a Class B misdemeanor.

Great work by all involved. We’re always happy to help our neighboring departments and their community’s!

It’s rare in the volunteer world to be able to offer such prompt response and service. Especially when Responding to neighboring coverage. It’s only through professionalism, training, and hard work that one is able to make a stop to a fire and save a manufactured home. These style homes are prone to quick combustion due to their building style. We want to highlight all of the personal on scene but especially our Captain, Jason Devine. His quick actions and leadership on scene led to the best outcome possible.

A response like this is what sets the best apart from the rest.

Residential Structure Fire: Deloach Road

At approximately 2:00 AM, Lay Lake Fire Rescue, alongside Fayetteville Fire Department, responded to a reported residential structure fire on Deloach Road. Due to the reported conditions, mutual aid was requested from Oak Grove Fire Department. Upon arrival, initial units encountered active fire conditions on the A/B corner of the residence, with fire involvement in the master bedroom and bathroom. A transitional fire attack was quickly initiated, allowing crews to achieve an initial knockdown from the exterior.

Following this, Lay Lake Fire Captain Dylan Jenkins and Oak Grove Fire Captain Jason Devine made an aggressive interior push, successfully bringing the fire under control. Their efforts, along with coordinated operations from all responding agencies, were instrumental in containing the fire to the master bedroom and bathroom area.
Due to the extent of the incident, additional manpower was requested from Sylacauga Fire Department to assist with suppression and overhaul operations.

Although the fire was contained to a limited portion of the home, smoke damage impacted the remainder of the structure. The master bedroom and bathroom, along with all contents within, are considered a total loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family affected as they begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.

All units cleared the scene and returned to service by approximately 5:30 AM.

🚨⚠️FIRE ALERT⚠️🚨
NO BURNING THIS WEEKEND!

March 26, 2026

The Alabama Forestry Commission has officially issued a Fire Alert for all of Central and North Alabama, effective immediately through Sunday night.

We anticipate a “perfect storm” of low humidity, extremely dry fuels, and increased wind speeds. In these conditions, even a single spark from a dragging trailer chain or an unattended charcoal grill can ignite a disaster, posing serious risks to our communities and firefighters.

Key points to be aware of:

- ❌ No Outdoor Burning: All permits for debris and agricultural burning are suspended, including trash piles and campfires.

- ✅ Equipment Safety: If you’re hauling a trailer, ensure your chains are securely fastened and not dragging on the pavement.

- 🚙 Vehicle Hazards: Avoid parking any vehicle in tall, dry grass where the exhaust system could ignite a fire.

- 💨 Report Smoke Early: If you observe smoke, don’t assume someone else has already reported it. Immediately report it to 911 so our crews can address it promptly!
