Our 2026 Summer Reading Bingo kicks off today, Monday, June 1st and runs through September 1st! This year’s theme is “Out of This World Summer Reads” and has fun, outer space-themed reading prompts. To get a bingo card, come by the Reference Desk of the library. A “bingo” is five filled-in squares in a row: across, up/down, or diagonally. Each bingo completed earns a raffle ticket towards a $25 gift card for one of ten Sylva businesses. Complete as many bingo cards (up to 12 bingos per card!) as you like.

Statement from FRL’s Interim Director, Bill McGaha:

Patrons of JCPL,

In preparation for the transaction of the Jackson County libraries from the Fontana Regional Library to Jackson County on July 1 there is preparation that needs to be accomplished in the Information Technology area prior to July 1. This involves work that cannot be accomplished when the library is functioning.

Therefore, from June 15 - June 30, the Jackson County Public Library normal operating hours will be Monday - Saturday, 9 AM - 5 PM. Programs and events that are already scheduled outside those hours WILL be held, but no other programs will be scheduled outside those hours.

I apologize for the inconvenience of the loss of the one evening hour on Monday and Wednesday and the three hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
