Adventure Education Conference

Dear friends and colleagues,

Due to the catastrophic devastation Hurricane Helene brought to the town of Montreat and Western North Carolina we have decided to postpone the 31st annual Adventure Education Conference until the fall of 2025. Although the college is up and running with electricity, internet, and water the planning team has been dispersed throughout the country for the past two weeks. Our team was fortunate to avoid the worst possible outcomes although many areas around us were devastated. Now that we can communicate, we wanted you to know our plans.

We have decided to provide a full refund to all sponsors and registrants. Please be patient with us as we process refunds.

We are grateful to our sponsors, speakers, and exhibitors for being understanding and supportive of this decision. We will not choose a date for next year, until we know about other conferences that will happen next fall. Faculty members that know of dates of other outdoor conferences in 2025, please help us chose a date for next year’s conference.

🍂Join us this Friday for our beloved Dr. Callie Schultz's Keynote, The Power of Holding Space: Creating more equitable futures in the outdoor adventure field!

🍂Registration will begin at 7:30 am in the Blue Ridge Conference Hall, with opening remarks and our Keynote beginning promptly at 9:30.

🍂We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Western Carolina University for this event, and we are excited to share in the day we have planned!
