Four months ago, employees and volunteers with the Wilson Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted prescribed burns in the Lucas Hills and Rock Town areas of Lucas Park.

Now is a great time to hike these areas and see firsthand how prescribed fire revitalizes our native grasslands. By converting dead leaf litter into nutrient-rich ash, prescribed burns recycle essential nutrients back into the soil, promoting healthier native plants, improving wildlife habitat, and reducing the buildup of excess vegetation.

Come explore the trails and witness the benefits of this important land management practice in action! 🌾🥾🔥

Have a Safe and Happy Independence Day Weekend!

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July weekend as we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday and commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Please note the following information for the Wilson Lake Project:

Fireworks at Lucas Point
The Wilson Lake Area Association (WLAA) has received special permission to conduct its annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Lucas Point. To ensure public safety, Lucas Point will be closed to camping and public use on July 3 and July 4 while preparations and the display take place.

Please remember that, except for this authorized event, the possession or use of fireworks and other pyrotechnics on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property is prohibited.

Free Boat Ramp Access
In celebration of Independence Day weekend, boat ramp fees will be waived from July 3 through July 5, 2026.

Life Jacket Loaner Program
Free life jackets are available through our Life Jacket Loaner Boards located at each boat ramp. If you need a life jacket, please feel free to borrow one for the day. When you're finished, return it to the loaner board so it will be available for the next visitor.

Thank you for helping us keep Wilson Lake safe and enjoyable for everyone. Have a fun and safe Independence Day weekend!
