Greetings, voters! I'm your Democratic precinct delegate, available to help with any voting questions you might have. A few quick notes:
-- You can get an absentee ballot application now and vote absentee right up to election day. If you're housebound, someone can take your application for an absentee ballot into city hall BUT only you or a family member can return the ballot. You still have time to mail your ballot, but as Election Day draws near, it's best to drop it off. If you need transportation to do so, please let me know.
-- The West Bloomfield Lakes Area Democratic club has a list of endorsed candidates at https://www.wbldems.org/news. It includes both partisan and non-partisan races.
-- As you know, much of the "non-partisan" part of the ballot s really rather parisan. This includes the Michigan Supreme Court, where candidates are nominated by the parties. Please remember that both the voting rights ballot petition and the abortion rights ballot petition would have been blocked from the ballot by the nakedly partisan Republican judges, and vote accordingly.
-- For Sylvan Lake votes in the Pontiac School District, there are only two candidates running for the two spots, so an endorsement isn't necessary. I know many Sylvan residents would prefer to be in the West Bloomfield School District (and part of our city is in that district) but most of us are in Pontiac.
-- For Sylvan Lake City Council, the Lakes Area Democrats are endorsing David Bowman. He's a great guy, a healthcare professional and you can find more information about him here:
https://www.facebook.com/DavidBowmanforSylvanLakeCouncil
-- Straight-ticket voting: You can vote for all the nominated Democratic candidates with the straight-ticket option. However, you still need to vote the non-partisan part of the ballot. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to vote for a single non-Dem candidate, you can do that and still vote the straight-ticket option. What happens is tha your specific votes are counted and any other race not specifically voted will be counted as a Democratic vote.
-- Please make a plan to vote and know who you want to vote for. You can find detailed voter information at www.MI.GOV/VOTE.
