Good afternoon everybody,

We are keeping an eye on a possible severe threat for our area early Sunday morning.

A broken line of severe thunderstorms is forecast to push across the area from west to east tonight into Sunday morning. Potentially significant severe weather is possible, including strong (EF2+) long-track tornadoes, damaging winds of 70+ mph, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall. This tornado threat is particularly dangerous given the overnight timing.

Please encourage folks to have multiple ways to receive warnings in the middle of the night.

Attached are social media graphics for sharing with your networks. Also attached are some safety graphics for tornado safety for apartments/homes/mobile homes. Please distribute widely and encourage folks to be weather aware tonight into Sunday morning!

UPDATE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE SNOWFALL AND COLD WEATHER THE CURFEW HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 12 PM TOMORROW, JANUARY 23RD.

Please continue to stay warm and safe!

ATTENTION!!!! Worth County, effective immediately, a curfew is in place from 8:00 PM tonight till Wednesday, January 22nd at 12:00 PM. Only emergency and essential traffic is permitted, which includes emergency responders and essential personnel. If you’re traveling to or from work or for other essential reasons, you are allowed on the roads. For everyone else, please stay off the roads.

This decision was made collectively by Worth County Commissioners, EMA Director Ray Salter, and Sheriff Don Whitaker , who all agreed this is the right course of action for Worth County citizens. This is about protecting our community and ensuring we can respond quickly to any issues that arise.

Why This is Important:
• Hazardous Conditions: The snowstorm has created dangerous roadways with ice, potential debris, and the risk of downed power lines. These conditions are a threat to public safety.
• Emergency Access: Clear roads are essential for emergency teams to do their jobs and to allow crews to restore road conditions safely and efficiently.
• Community Safety: This isn’t about restricting freedoms, it’s about encouraging common sense and prioritizing the safety of our residents.

Please stay inside and warm! Remember to check on your outside pets and elderly neighbors!

Good morning everybody,

Here is the latest update with more accurate timing. As the winter weather approaches our chance for snow arrival changed to as early as 11 am to as late as 2 pm with accumulation likely to begin at 3 pm. Our snow amount increased to 3 to 4 inches. Precipitation is likely to end by 3am Wednesday morning.

Please use caution if you travel. Stay warm and stay inside! Beware of ice on the roads, and continue to check on your pets, and elderly neighbors.

Good afternoon everybody,

Here is the latest update from US National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida.

What we know so far is our snow chances have increased in our area upwards to a chance of 2 to 4 inches. The timing now is beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, as early as 3pm, but more likely around 5pm for accumulation to start.

Please continue to make sure you, your pets, and elderly neighbors stay warm and make the proper accommodations during this freezing weather.

" IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning
commutes.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."

Good afternoon everybody,

Winter Storm Watch issued January 19 at 2:27PM EST until January 22 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Tallahassee FL.

IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous by Tuesday night. The weight of
the ice on tree limbs may down power lines and cause power
outages. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute.
Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.

Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you
must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will
keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to
reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a
hat will keep you from losing your body heat.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded due to the very cold weather.

It looks like we have about a 45-60% chance of snow up to 1 to 2 inches in our area. It could reach us as early as 1 to 2 pm on Tuesday afternoon, and last into Wednesday morning. It is still too early to be exact, and our chances of snow are still subjected to change.

Everyone please stay inside, and stay warm. Do not go outside unless necessary. If you go outside please wear layers of clothing to stay warm. Make sure you prepare outside pipes so they do not freeze and bust. If you have pets outside please make sure you have a warm place for your animals to stay. If you live near the elderly, please check on them and make sure they are prepared for this freezing weather.

We will update further if impacts change.

ATTENTION EVERYBODY:
Please be on the look out for a missing person. She is an 81 year old white female. Approximately 5'7" weighing 120 pounds. Last seen on 219 Golden Rd. Ty Ty, GA 31795 around 4 pm. She was last seen wearing a long sleeve black shirt and blue jeans pants. If you have seen Joyce Evans please call 911.

Trees are down across Worth County. We will most likely be bombarded with out of town contractors as soon as the wind eases up. FEMA has not declared a federal disaster.

-Do not let someone scare you into making immediate repair.
-Document damages, take pictures, and call your insurance agent
-Only work with licensed contractors.
-Respectable contractors will not ask for payment up front.
-If you have a service come cuts trees or debris up for you, they must take it with them. Do not let them leave it on the curb/side of the road.

Due to the severity of weather, we are trying to keep all residence safe, a curfew will be implemented for all Worth County Citizens. The curfew will begin today, 9/26 at 8PM and ends tomorrow morning 9/27 at 7AM. Please stay in your safe place during this time.
