MISSION
Members of the Syosset Fire Department will always provide dependable service in a responsible fashion, while showing fiscal care, as well as compassion for those in need. We will protect lives, property and the environment through discipline, preparedness, fire prevention, community education and mitigation of fire, and will also provide rescue and medical care in the finest and most responsive manner.

In a special family milestone, Chief 5800 had the honor of swearing in both his nephew and his daughter, continuing a proud legacy of service within the department.

The Syosset Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a blood drive for the New York Blood Center on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Syosset Fire Headquarters located at 50 Cold Spring Road between the hours of 1 pm and 7 pm! Park in our back lot, come up to the 2nd floor and give a pint!

Blood supplies are critically low so now is the perfect time to give. A successful blood drive is 40 pints. Let's show Syosset pride and help the Blood Center!

The Syosset Fire Department congratulates our Cadet Firefighters and EMT who graduate from Syosset High School today. Over the past year, these dedicated young men and women have balanced the demands of academics while answering the call for help, serving their community, and completing their training.

We are proud to recognize the following Cadets, who will be assigned to their respective companies as probationary members in the coming week:

🎉 TODAY IS THE BIG DAY! 🎉

The wait is finally over! Join the Syosset Fire Department tonight for our highly anticipated Parade and Block Party! Bring the whole family out for a fantastic night of community, music, and fun.

📅 Event Schedule:

4:30 PM – Road Closures Begin (Plan your route!)
6:00 PM – Parade Kickoff 🚒💨

Post-Parade – Block Party at the LIRR Lot (Live band, food trucks, bounce houses, and co****le!) 🎸🍔🏰

🚧 IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURES (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM) 🚧

To ensure the safety of our marchers and spectators, the following intersections will be closed starting at 4:30 PM:

❌ Underhill Blvd & Jericho Tpke
❌ Ira Rd & Jackson Ave
❌ Cold Spring Rd & Arizona Ave
❌ Muttontown Eastwoods Rd & Cold Spring Rd

Drivers, please expect delays and seek alternate routes during these times.

📍 Parade Route & Parking:

Start: On Underhill at Woodcrest Dr.
Route: Marching down Underhill Blvd onto Cold Spring Rd.
End: LIRR Lot Entrance on Cold Spring Rd.

Spectator Parking: South Commuter Lot (LIRR Lot P)

Let’s line the streets, wave those flags, and show our 5th Battalion some major hometown pride! See you all at 6:00 PM!

Today, the Syosset Fire Department laid to rest Firefighter Joseph Connolly Sr. of Engine Company 5.

For more than 40 years, Joe proudly and faithfully served the Syosset community as a volunteer firefighter. He also honorably served our nation as a United States Navy veteran during the Vietnam War.

Joe was the father of Ex-Captain Joseph Connolly Jr., and his dedication to both his family and his community leaves a lasting legacy within our department.

Joe will be deeply missed, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Connolly family.

🚒 The Syosset FD-hosted 5th Battalion Parade and Block party, will take place this Saturday at 6pm!

☀️With beautiful sunny weather and a lineup of family-friendly activities, it’s the perfect opportunity for the family to spend your Saturday evening connecting with neighbors and friends of the Syosset community!

We invite all community members to line Underhill Boulevard for the parade and join us after for the block party in the LIRR lot (NO cover charge)!
