Summer School Meal Sites
Free meals will be provided to all children 18 years and under. At the Park Meal Sites only, adults are invited to join and partake in the free BBQ. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origins, age, or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.

Next Wednesday May 21st, PFLA will be hosting an Academic Gallery Walk beginning at 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. for our students and their families. PFLA staff will be available outside of their classrooms beginning at 2:00 p.m. to engage with students & their families during the gallery walk. Each teacher is being asked to post examples of student classwork, artwork, SEL activities, etc. on the walls outside of their classrooms.

In addition to student displays, the following areas will also be represented:
• Building Men
• Community Based Organizations
• Regents Information
• SEL
• Summer Reading & Book Give Away
Light refreshments will be available for those in attendance. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.

This is a reminder that next week, April 14th through April 18th, is spring recess and there is no school for students attending the Syracuse City School District. However, for those students attending Promising Futures Leadership Academy, you have the opportunity on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday to participate in Student Ownership and Reflection Week, better known as SOAR week. SOAR will operate daily beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 12:00 p.m. on those days. No PFLA teachers will be available on Friday of next week. SOAR is an opportunity for students to complete make up work or to complete credit recovery. Students are encouraged to attend and work directly with teachers.

The Panorama Climate Survey has now opened and is available for all Promising Futures Leadership Academy (PFLA) students, families, staff and teachers to complete prior to April 25th.

As a reminder, the Syracuse City School District and PFLA have metrics around student belonging and survey participation goals for School Year 2025 in our new strategic plan, On The Rise.

In celebration of Eid al-Fitr, the joyful end of Ramadan, a sacred month of fasting and prayer for Muslims, this Monday March 31st, students in the Syracuse City School District will not have school.

As we conclude the third marking period of the school year, please remember that your child’s attendance at PFLA is of the utmost importance. For your child to be academically successful, they need to be in school and in class on a daily basis. If your child is struggling with their academics or their attendance, please reach out for assistance by calling the main office at 315-435-4135.

During the upcoming April recess, PFLA will be operating SOAR week which provides the opportunity for PFLA students to come to PFLA to complete missing assignments, improve their grades on assignments or complete extra credit.

SOAR will be offered Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for instruction, followed by lunch that ends at 12:30 p.m.

A Centro bus will pick up students at the corner of E. Genesee St. and McBride St. at approximately 12:35 p.m. Ride vouchers are available if needed. All PFLA students are encouraged attend SOAR, no matter their present academic status.

Thank you for your ongoing support of your child’s education and all of the staff at PFLA would like to wish our students and families a safe and enjoyable three day weekend. We look forward to seeing you when school resumes on Tuesday April 1st.
