When Majority Leader Nodesia Hernandez and Chairwoman Nicole Watts were elected to serve on the Onondaga County Legislature, they made vows to uphold the charter of Onondaga County, and lead with transparency, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that the voices of the people remain at the center of every decision.

The goal has always been simple: give voters the opportunity to decide. Last year, voters approved term limits for County Legislators. This year, the Legislature sought to extend that same opportunity to two countywide offices.

Two conflicting correspondences were received by the legislature's clerical team. After consulting with County Law and outside counsel, it was determined that the initial transmission, complete with County Executive McMahon's signature approving and adopting the local law, will be accepted and transmitted to the Board of Elections. You, the voters, will have the right to decide if you want to term limit the offices of the County Executive and the Comptroller come November.

Thank you to every resident who reached out, attended public hearings, asked thoughtful questions, and participated in this process. Civic engagement makes our community stronger, and we remain committed to ensuring your voice is heard.

Majority Leader Nodesia Hernandez and many members of the Onondaga County Legislature were among those in attendance at Micron's Concrete Progress event last Thursday.

The semiconductor manufacturer, estimated to create over 40,000 new jobs in Central New York by bringing memory technology development from overseas into the US, announced an increase of their investment from $200 billion to $250 billion. CEO Sanjay Mehrotra also announced that the megafab facility, currently being built in Clay, New York, is six months ahead of schedule.

Following speeches by Governor Kathy Hochul, Howard Lutnick, and other government officials, the first layer concrete was poured for the new facility.
