🚒This weekend, Supervisor John Mahar was honored to represent the Town at the South Onondaga Fire Department (SOFD) annual banquet held at Navarino Orchard. It is with heavy hearts the members of the Navarino Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of past Chief Ron Foote.

Ron first joined the Department in the 1970’s, then moved to Taunton after marrying his wife, Karen. He rejoined in October of 1987, and served as Chief from 1989-1991, again in 1999, and from 2004-2005. He previously served as a member of the Taunton Volunteer Fire Department from 1978-1983.

Ron also served as President in 2008, 2013, and 2015.

Ron was a tremendous asset to the organization serving as a firefighter, as well as an EMT. He also held the Treasurer position for many years, as well as serving on the Board of Directors. He and his wife raised their family in Navarino, and their son Ron Jr. also served in the Department.

Ron volunteered until retirement, when shortly after he and Karen relocated to FL to enjoy the sunshine, and to get out of the cold and snowy winter weather. At that time, Ron became a Life Member of the Fire Department.

Karen, Ron Jr., Kathryn & family, on behalf of the Navarino Volunteer Fire Department and the Navarino Community, we want to thank you for Ron’s service and the countless hours dedicated to this organization. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
