On September 29, 2026, Syracuse broke ground on East Adams Phase 2: 125 brand new apartments built for senior citizens, the first entirely new-construction building in the East Adams neighborhood transformation. Seniors from Pioneer Homes and McKinney Manor, who asked for a fresh, new space rather than another renovation, have first right of return.

Watch the highlights from a day years in the making, from the opening song to the elder-first ceremonial groundbreaking and the community celebration that followed.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week™ is October 4–10, 2026, and this year’s theme is “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

From phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools, lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives. Practicing safe charging habits can help prevent fires and keep you, your family and your home safe.

🔌 Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
🔋 Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
🛏️ Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces. Never on beds, couches, or pillows.
⚠️ Stop using a device if it becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, or smells strange.
🏠 Always keep working smoke alarms in your home and have a fire escape plan.

🎨 SHA residents: Be sure to check the mySHA app for information about Fire Prevention Week poster contests happening at your property this week!
