Teresa McCarthy Brusa was a devout and steadfast champion of the mission of Joseph’s House. She never hesitated to step forward in support of the organization and its work. In the early days of Joseph’s House, Teresa led the effort to create a “Mom’s Cookbook” fundraiser — one of the many ways she generously gave her time, energy, and heart to help the mission grow. She was present at every fundraiser and Gala encouraging people to get involved. She was never one to shy away from a challenge.
For more than 12 years, Teresa faithfully led a dedicated group of prayer warriors who gathered each month for Mass and prayers for the intentions of Joseph’s House. She firmly believed that for Joseph’s House to thrive, it needed regular and consistent intercessory prayer. When the COVID pandemic changed how people could gather, Teresa seamlessly transitioned the prayer group to Zoom, continuing her commitment without interruption.
Teresa thoughtfully designed, wrote, and distributed prayer booklets for the group, many containing beautiful prayers she had written herself. Even as attendance gradually declined over time, Teresa remained undeterred. She would stay on the call praying aloud faithfully, just in case someone might join later.
By my count, Teresa guided well over 250 hours of prayer for Joseph’s House since its inception — and those are only the prayers we witnessed together. Countless more were surely offered quietly on her own. It is impossible to measure how much of Joseph’s House today has been shaped by Teresa’s steadfast faith, devotion, and love for our mission, but without question, it is a great deal.
Take time today to pray, and please include Teresa and her family in those prayers.
If you feel so moved, please donate in Teresa's memory at her and her family's request.
God bless,
Bronson Kopp
