Children need time and space to process their experiences & emotions 🍃

This is why the over-scheduling of activities is often detrimental to a child’s emotional health…

Not because there is anything wrong with activities, but because the overall pace of the child’s schedule doesn’t allow them enough downtime to recalibrate.

🍃 The amount of unscheduled downtime a child needs is based on the individual child. It is influenced by a child’s age & temperament.

If your child is older, you can talk with them about the pace of their schedule.
If your child is younger, look for signals such as the increase of exhaustion or challenging behavior.

If you notice that your child is struggling more with negative emotions & behavior, the pace of their schedule could be something to consider…

Just like us, children need unscheduled time and space for the cultivation of their emotional health 💛💛💛
