PSLA at Fowler High School Special Education teacher Heather Young is a Star because she consistently demonstrates an exceptional commitment to her students and school community and goes well above and beyond her responsibilities as an educator.
Special Education Instructional Liaison/Transition Coach Margaret Ristoff praised Ms. Young for creating a resource to help support students transitioning from high school to post-secondary experiences; establishing a mentoring program for incoming high school students; and participating in a grant-funded initiative designed to advance special class teachers through collaboration and coaching. “Heather is a reflective, student-centered educator who continually seeks to improve outcomes for all learners,” Ms. Ristoff shared. “She approaches her work with creativity, care, and a deep understanding of student needs. Her ability to design meaningful, innovative supports demonstrates both her professionalism and her passion for education.”
