Congratulations to our 15 high school diploma graduates and 76 workforce training graduates who walked across the stage last night at West Genesee High School for this summer's OCM BOCES graduation ceremony! 🎓

The auditorium was packed with family, friends, OCM BOCES teachers, administrators and staff, and other supporters who came together to cheer on and celebrate our graduates and their accomplishments.

Our workforce training graduates represented several high-demand programs, including Construction Trades, Electrical Maintenance Technician, HVAC/R, Medical Assisting, and Welder/Fitter.

All of their accomplishments were especially meaningful because, as adult students, many are balancing families, jobs and other responsibilities alongside their education. We could not be more proud of the dedication and perseverance it took to reach this milestone!

We wish all of our graduates the very best as they begin this next chapter. As several speakers reminded us last night, keep learning, keep growing — your education never ends! 👏

👏👏Teachers of multilingual learners explored two essential questions today during an all-day professional development session organized by our very own Mid-State Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (RBERN):

1.) Where can AI help us remove barriers and create greater access for multilingual learners?
2.) Where does our professional judgment remain essential?

Special guests at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in East Syracuse included keynote speakers and authors Dr. Carol Salva and Dr. Valentina Gonzalez, along with featured speaker Dr. Marie Heath. Together, they shared inspirational stories, the highlights of their books, and research-based strategies for supporting multilingual learners in an AI-powered world.

Breakout sessions connected educators with the expertise of our instructional technology specialists from the OCM BOCES Model Schools team, who explored digital tools such as Google’s NotebookLM and Kami, the art of AI prompting, and ways to personalize instruction with AI.

Thank you to RBERN Coordinator Dr. Sabrina N**o and her amazing team for a full day filled with curiosity, caution, creativity and practical classroom application! We appreciate all you do for our region's multilingual learners and educators!

🐾 A new opportunity for students interested in veterinary science is officially underway!

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday evening at the Veterinary Medical Center of Central New York to celebrate the launch of our brand-new OCM BOCES Veterinary Science Career & Technical Education (CTE) program!

We’re excited to welcome our inaugural class of 10 juniors from school districts across our region.

What makes this program so exciting? Students will learn inside a working emergency and specialty veterinary hospital, gaining experience alongside Licensed Veterinary Technicians and other veterinary medical professionals.

Throughout the program, students will:

✅Learn in areas including Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Radiology and Rehabilitation

✅Take part in clinical rotations and shadow veterinary staff

✅ Earn high school academic credits, with potential college credit

✅ Work toward certifications in Animal CPR, First Aid and Fear Free handling

A special thank you to the Ann Harris Initiative for partnering with us and supporting this new opportunity for students and the veterinary community in Central New York.

We can’t wait to see where this first group goes from here! 🐾 Read more about the program here: https://www.ocmboces.org/teacherpage.cfm?teacher=4005

🚀 FIRST LEGO League coaches from across the region recently joined us at our Main Campus for the annual FIRST LEGO League Coaches Camp, hosted by the OCM BOCES Model Schools program.

It was a great opportunity for coaches to share ideas and get ready for another season of helping students explore STEM through teamwork, creativity and problem-solving.

Through Model Schools, educators and administrators have access to more than 100 professional learning opportunities each year, including hands-on workshops, digital courses, specialized meetings, user groups and customized support.

We’re proud to support the educators who help students turn curiosity into something they can build, test and bring to life!
