Free fireworks safety buckets available at Heritage Days! ๐Ÿชฃ๐ŸŽ†

Thanks to the generosity of TNT Fireworks, Syracuse Fire has received 150 five-gallon buckets to help families celebrate this fireworks season safely.

Stop by our first-aid trailer during Heritage Days to pick up a free bucket while supplies last (to spread the love, only one bucket per family, please). These buckets are perfect for safely soaking used fireworks, sparklers, and duds before disposal.

Using a fireworks disposal bucket is simple:
๐Ÿ’ง Fill the bucket with water before your celebration
๐ŸŽ‡ Place used fireworks, sparklers, and duds in the water
๐ŸŒ™ Let them soak overnight
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Dispose of the wet fireworks in your regular trash

Be sure to stop by, say hello, and grab a bucket for your family!

Saving lives starts with action! What YOU can do:

โœ… Learn CPR. Create an emergency action plan for your household by helping all family members know how to perform chest compressions.

โœ… Know where the nearest AED is and take note of AEDs in schools, gyms, and workplaces.

Remember: Quick actions matter during emergencies. If you witness a sudden collapse, dial 911, start CPR, and use an AED, if available. Your swift response can mean everything.

Choking can happen quickly and without warning, but knowing what to do can save a life.

If someone is choking and cannot breathe, speak, or cough:
๐Ÿ‘‹ Ask if they need help
๐Ÿšจ Have someone call 911
๐Ÿซฑ Perform abdominal thrusts, if needed (Heimlich maneuver for if they can't speak, are conscious, and are over 1 year old). For infants, use back blows and chest thrusts instead.

Learning this simple skill can make all the difference in an emergency.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Today, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a reminder of the cost of the freedoms we enjoy every day. We remember them with gratitude and respect.

From all of us at Syracuse Fire, we wish you a safe Memorial Day.

Donโ€™t leave pets behind ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿš—
Even on mild days, the temperature inside a parked car can rise quickly and become dangerous in minutes. Cracked windows and shade wonโ€™t keep your pet safe.

If youโ€™re running errands, the safest option is to leave your pet at home where itโ€™s cool and comfortable. A quick stop can turn into a serious situation. Help keep your furry friends safe by never leaving them unattended in a vehicle.
