Everybody hop on the page and let’s give TCFT’s own Stephen Stoffel some congrats on recently completing his EMT-B certification!

Stephen put in the time and work the first half of this year to complete this course and successfully earn his certification after completing FF I/II just last year as well. Fun fact, he’s not much for being the center of attention so we almost had to kidnap him for this photo op to take place. 😂 We’re proud to see another one of our members continue building their skills and capabilities to better serve the Wawasee community. Well done, Stephen!

Instructors from TCFT and Goshen Fire spent last weekend here in Syracuse teaching the INFPSA Surface Water Operations and Technician class.

This class is quickly turning into one of our most attended each year with TCFT, Cleveland Township, Baugo Township, Bluffton, Warsaw-Wayne, Carmel, Mishawaka, Sparta Township, and Noble Township all having fire personnel earn state certifications in the course over three days.

As always, we want to extend a big thank you to our partners at Wawasee Community Schools for allowing us the use the pool, and to Oakwood Resort for providing waterfront access for scenarios. Both locations gave the class excellent opportunities for hands-on training throughout the course.

Thank you to everyone who traveled to train with us, and to the instructors who dedicated their time and effort to making this class possible. Well done everybody!

Congratulations to TCFT Deputy Chief Shade Keeney, EMS Chief Cody Manges, and Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory Chief Jeremy Likens on completing the 11th Fire Chief Executive Training Program in Plainfield this week!

The three spent this week in Plainfield learning alongside other fire service leaders from across the state and covering a wide range of topics that come with leading and managing today’s fire departments.

We appreciate their willingness to keep learning and bring that knowledge and experience back to our departments and communities.

Congratulations, Chiefs!

C-Shift and our volunteer staff took advantage of a break in the rain tonight to get outside and put in some engine operation reps.

Pump operations are one of those unique skills where repetition matters. The more time you spend behind the panel, the more comfortable and efficient you become. Getting those reps in during training builds the confidence and muscle memory needed in high stress situations.

Great night for training, solid work team!

Today’s the day!

This morning marks the first day of the ‘26-‘27 school year for Wawasee Community Schools.

All of us here at TCFT would like to wish our students, teachers, administrators, bus drivers and school staff a safe and successful school year.

As everyone gets back into the routine, give yourself a little extra time this morning and keep an eye out for buses and students along the way.

And to the moms and dads leaving that parent drop-off line blasting ’90s rap this morning like you just got paroled, we see you. Actually, no we don’t. Carry on. 😂

Have a great first day, Wawasee!

A Tornado Warning is currently in effect for the Leesburg and Milford areas. Northern warning sirens have been activated by Kosciusko County Dispatch.

Syracuse and North Webster are NOT currently under a Tornado Warning, however, a severe storm that has produced straight line winds estimated between 70–110 mph is quickly moving in our direction.

Please take this storm seriously and be prepared to seek shelter immediately.

With winds of this magnitude, expect the possibility of downed trees, power lines and blocked roadways.

• Stay indoors and away from windows.
• Have a safe location identified on the lowest level of your home or building.
• Never approach or drive over a downed power line. Treat every downed line as energized.
• Do not attempt to drive around emergency vehicles, barricades or trees blocking roadways.
• If you encounter downed trees or power lines, turn around and find another route.
• Keep phones charged and continue monitoring official weather alerts.

TCFT personnel are monitoring conditions and are prepared to respond as this storm moves through the area.

Stay safe out there.
