While today marks the beginning of a new chapter, it also brings to a close 13 years of dedicated service on the FASNY Board of Directors for OCVFA Past President Mike Caron.

Over the past 13 years, Mike has dedicated countless hours to the fire service, not only here in Onondaga County, but throughout New York State. During his time with FASNY, he served on multiple committees, contributed to numerous initiatives, and worked both in front of the membership and behind the scenes to strengthen and advance the volunteer fire service.

Mike, as your term as Director comes to an end, thank you and congratulations on 13 years of dedicated service to FASNY and the firefighters of New York State.

12pm - 4pm

3rd Annual First Responder Appreciation Day, sponsored by ESIP - Emergency Services Insurance Program & Believe 31.

We've had this event previously at Homer Hops in Cortland County and it's been great. This year it is coming to Onondaga County at the Heritage Hill Brewhouse, located in Pompey, NY.

If you would like to help and bring a piece of equipment to showcase at the event, please reach out to OCVFA Director and Onondaga County Fire Chiefs Association 2nd VP, Joe Nemier, at [email protected]. He is coordinating the apparatus/equipment to be displayed this year.

In the past, adults and kids loved the display of trucks and equipment we had and we would like to continue that for this year.

OCVFA congratulates Onondaga County Fire Chiefs Association Past President and Past Cicero Fire Chief Jon Barrett on being elected to serve as Director of the Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) for the next five years.

We look forward for him to work alongside fire service leaders and members from across New York State and the country, listen to their ideas and concerns, and continue to advocate for the men and women who dedicate themselves to serving their communities.

Congratulations Chief, we know with your leadership, many great things can happen.

🔥 35 MILLION+ steps.

That’s roughly 17,945 miles walked by our Onondaga County fire crews this August.

For perspective…that’s enough to walk across the United States about SIX TIMES. 🤯😂

But the best part of this challenge has been watching what’s happening beyond the steps.

Crews are getting together. Moving more. Having fun. Talking trash. 😂 And pushing each other to make some healthier choices along the way.

These are people who already give SO much of their time to show up for our communities. And they’re putting in the work to take care of themselves so they can keep doing exactly that. ❤️🚒

And if you’ve been following along thinking… this actually looks like a pretty fun group of people to be around…

You’re right. 😏

Stop by your local volunteer fire department and meet them. They could probably use another person for next year’s team. 😉

Alright crews… enough reading Facebook.

Only 9 days left. Time to finish this thing strong. Get off your ass and GET STEPPING. 😂🔥🚒

LFG 💪💪
