Perinatal Network serving Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego Counties: Networking for communication and collaboration among health and human service providers, and consumers, to address needs, promote access to services, identify gaps in services, and improve outreach to those in need in Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego Counties. Education and resources for b
oth providers and consumers on topics such as breastfeeding, oral health, promoting mental health in the perinatal period, and more. HIV/AIDS Regional Training Center, authorized by the NYSDOH AIDS Institute: Free HIV/AIDS trainings and customized trainings on a range of topics including enhanced outreach, reducing the risk and harm of HIV, cultural competency, and more. New York State Center for Sudden Infant Death, Central New York Regional Office: REACH CNY is the CNY regional office for this statewide program to promote a supportive community response to those affected by the sudden and unexpected death of an infant and to educate professionals and the public about infant mortality and infant safe sleep practices. The Center joins with infant/child Fatality Review programs to study the causes of infant and child deaths and develop local safety awareness initiatives. Funded by the NYS Department of Health and coordinated by the School of Social Welfare at Stony Brook University. Syracuse Healthy Start: A program of the Onondaga County Health Department working to improve maternal-child health and eliminate disparities in infant mortality in Syracuse. REACH CNY coordinates the Syracuse Healthy Start Consortium of consumers and providers, and our Neighborhood Outreach Worker reaches out to engage women into prenatal care and other needed services. Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP): This program serves youth 10-21 residing in Syracuse and other targeted areas with evidence-based sexuality education and youth development programming to promote healthy development, reduce adolescent pregnancy, and increase access to and use of clinical services for family planning and sexual health. CAPP organizes the Community Advisory Council, includes subcontracts with Huntington Family Center, The Salvation Army, and Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region and partnerships with the North Syracuse Central School District, CanTeen, OCM BOCES, and other organizations that serve youth. New York Parents are Talking (NYPAT): a coalition of parent educators that meets quarterly for education and networking. Safe Sleep Education and Cribs for Kids: Provides training and materials for home visitors and case managers so they can teach parents how to keep their infants safe. If a family cannot provide a safe sleep environment, service providers can provide a crib. The cribs are funded by donations from the community.
