🚒 Fire Alarm Response & Fire Safety Reminder

At approximately 2:51 a.m. today, the Hinsdale Fire Department and mutual aid from the Lyncourt Fire Department were activated for a fire alarm at the Orchard Estates Apartment Complex.

Hinsdale Engine 8 arrived first due and confirmed that there was nothing showing from the exterior, but an active alarm was sounding. Crews began investigating the cause. Hinsdale Tanker/Pumper 6 then arrived second due and assisted with the investigation.

Hinsdale Command remained with the Hinsdale units and, after determining no further assistance was needed, released Lyncourt Truck 2. We sincerely thank the Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department for their mutual aid and support. 🚒

The alarms had reportedly been sounding for more than 10 hours. This is an important reminder to check your smoke detectors and make sure they are working properly. As we prepare for the fall season and Fire Prevention Month, take time to practice fire safety with your children in a way they can understand. Teaching them what to do in an emergency helps keep our families and communities safer.

🔥 Fire safety starts at home.

Check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Replace batteries when needed.
Make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room.
Practice your home fire escape plan with your children.

Throwback Thursday! 🔥🐷
Here’s a look back at a detail created for a T-shirt in 1993. It was all about the PIG and Firemen’s Pushball!

Back in the day, the Town of Salina fire departments came together to host this fun event—and, of course, enjoy a good old-fashioned barbecue pig afterward. 🐷🔥

Great memories, great people, and a great tradition from back in the day! ❤️🚒

🚒🍽️ We’re less than two weeks away! 🍽️🚒
On August 26, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Food Rescue Food Truck will be in front of our station serving up some hand-picked meals!

There will be indoor and outdoor seating available, so bring the family, grab some great food, and enjoy the evening with us.

Best of all, a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department! ❤️🚒

We hope to see you there and truly appreciate everyone who comes out to support our department and our community!

Today, members and families of the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department had the privilege of gathering together and attending Mass at St. Margaret's Church of Mattydale.

Following Mass, our members enjoyed spending time with fellow parishioners during a wonderful celebration honoring the 100th anniversary of our church. It was a beautiful opportunity to come together, celebrate our churches history, and enjoy the fellowship of friends and neighbors.

We were also honored to have the opportunity to visit with Father Joe and take a picture with him.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this special celebration possible. The Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department is proud to be part of such a wonderful community, and we look forward to continuing to serve our neighbors for many years to come! 🙏 🚒❤️

On behalf of the officers and members of the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the Solvay Fire Department and the family of Past Chief Michael Ryan on his passing.
Past Chief Ryan's dedication, leadership, and service to his community will be remembered with great respect and gratitude. We honor his commitment to the fire service and the lasting impact he made on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ryan family and all the members of the Solvay Fire Department during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the memories you shared and strength in the support of your fire service family.

Rest in Peace, Past Chief Michael Ryan. Your service and legacy will not be forgotten.

Former Chief Mike Ryan passed away this week. He began his service to the Solvay Fire Department in March 1968, rising through the ranks over a career spanning decades. He was instrumental in building the Explorer program and had many accomplishments with FASNY and OCVFA throughout his career. He was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest easy, Chief. https://obits.syracuse.com/us/obituaries/syracuse/name/michael-ryan-obituary?id=62139543
