Today, members of the Tabernacle Rescue Squad, along with the Woodland Fire & EMS, Tabernacle Fire Department and Good Will Fire Company, were dispatched to Woodland Township for the report of a horse that was down and unable to get back up. Rescue 4399 and our duty ambulance responded with our specialized large animal rescue equipment and trained personnel to assist.
Working together with crews on scene, and utilizing a backhoe provided by Woodland Township, responders were able to safely lift and assist the horse back onto its feet. We are happy to report that after evaluation by the owner’s veterinarian, the horse was found to be in good health and was walking around before crews cleared the scene.
Incidents involving large animals present unique challenges and require specialized training, equipment, and coordinated teamwork to ensure the safety of both the animal and responders. Tabernacle Rescue Squad is fortunate to have several members specifically trained in Large Animal Emergency Rescue, along with specialized rescue equipment designed for these types of incidents.
As calls for specialized rescue services continue to grow, we are actively looking to expand our large animal rescue capabilities with additional equipment that would further improve safety and efficiency during these incidents. Community donations help us continue providing these highly specialized rescue services to our region.
We would like to thank all agencies involved for their teamwork and professionalism, as well as Woodland Township for their assistance on scene.
