Summer reading isn't just a fun activity β€” it's an important part of helping students stay engaged and continue building literacy skills outside the classroom. πŸ“šβ˜€οΈ

As vice chair of the Senate Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee, I know that strong readers become strong learners. That's why we've continued investing in public education, early literacy supports, school libraries, and programs that help students succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Whether it's a chapter book, graphic novel, audiobook, or a favorite story read together as a family, I encourage everyone to make time for reading this summer. Every page turned is an investment in a child's future. πŸ’œ

Thank you to the Town of Steilacoom Mayor and Council for the opportunity to share a recap of the 2026 legislative session and discuss the issues that matter most to our community. πŸ’™

From protecting investments in education and workforce development to advancing affordability, transportation and public safety, this session was about making thoughtful choices in a challenging budget year while continuing to invest in people.

I appreciate the thoughtful conversation and look forward to continuing our partnership on behalf of Steilacoom and the entire 28th District. 🀝🏾

Had a wonderful time celebrating community at City of University Place, Washington - Municipal Government's Duck Daze Parade! πŸ¦†πŸ«ΆπŸΎ

Events like this are a reminder of why local leadership and state partnerships matter. From investments in public safety and parks to infrastructure and community spaces, the work we do in Olympia is ultimately about supporting the places we call home.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate, connect, and show what makes University Place such a special community. ✨

Had a great time with at the University of Washington with my beautiful Sorors of Alpha Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. talking about how a bill becomes a law and how students can make their voices heard in the legislative process. πŸ›οΈβœ¨

We broke down real legislation from this session, talked about civic engagement, and had a thoughtful discussion about the power of understanding how government works.

Thank you to the students who showed up, asked great questions, and reminded me why investing in the next generation of leaders matters. ❀️

Congratulations to the Curtis High School Class of 2026! πŸŽ“πŸ’™

Graduation is more than a milestone but a reflection of your hard work, perseverance, and the support of the families, educators, and communities who have been cheering you on along the way.

As chair of the Senate Higher Education & Workforce Development Committee, I know there is no one path to success. Whether you're headed to college, an apprenticeship, military service, the workforce, or still figuring it out, know that your future is full of possibility.

Congratulations, Vikings β€” your community is proud of you. ✨

Honored to be appointed to the Community Reinvestment Program Work Group. 🀝🏾

This work is rooted in making sure investments reach communities that have been historically under-resourced β€” supporting economic opportunity, stability, and long-term growth. ❀️ I’m grateful for the opportunity to help guide this effort and build on the work we advanced this session.

Grateful to join the Mid-County Leadership meeting at Pacific Lutheran University and connect with local leaders and partners. πŸ›οΈ

It’s always valuable to share updates from session and talk through the work we’re doing, from education and workforce pathways to investments here in the 28th.

I appreciate the thoughtful conversation and the chance to stay connected to the priorities shaping our region. πŸ’œ

Looking forward to joining an incredible group of leaders for The Pitch and the Path Forward as part of F5 Appreciates Blackness today.

We'll be talking about leadership, civic engagement, creating opportunity, and what it takes to turn vision into action. I am grateful for the chance to share my story β€” from education to public service β€” and to be in conversation with people who are helping shape a more inclusive future in their own fields.

Thank you to F5 and the organizers for creating spaces that celebrate Black excellence while challenging us to think about the path forward together. πŸ–€βœ¨

Honored to sit down with Guaranteed Income Works to discuss the importance of the Millionaires Tax, which will provide sustainable funding for schools, healthcare and other essential services, help fix Washington’s broken tax code, and cut taxes for millions of working Washingtonians and small businesses. πŸ’™

We also chatted about the need for cash-based programs and how I've advocated for them in the state Senate, like with my bill, SB 6212. As one of the inaugural member of Legislators for a Guaranteed Income, it's critical we do all we can to ensure everyone can thrive here in Washington and beyond.
