Hilltop Action Coalition

Hilltop Action Coalition Currently, many new arrivals do not speak English. Since 1989 the Hilltop Action Coalition has been a center for the community action within the Hilltop Area.

Hilltop Action Coalition engages residents, businesses, and partner organizations to build and sustain a resilient community with socially-just housing, jobs, commerce, and quality of life. Throughout its history, the Hilltop has been home to newcomers to the Tacoma area looking for a diverse neighborhood with old-world buildings with small-town atmosphere. The Coalition invites these residents to

enjoy the same peace and security as other Hilltop neighbors and encourages them to participate fully in our society. The Coalition also helps departments of the City of Tacoma better understand how they can serve residents of the Hilltop. Community-based policing, drug-house elimination, lighting and waste clean-ups have all been part of this effort. Come visit our office, send us an email, follow us on social media, and attend a Monthly Community Meeting to learn more about how HAC continues to serve this community. BOARD MEMBERS

Dear Community Partner,
Are you passionate about affordable housing, community empowerment, and equity? Join us for an informational meeting to explore how community land trusts create lasting, affordable homeownership opportunities and how Aya Community Land Trust hopes to make a difference in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood.
Aya Community Land Trust is committed to empowering the current and historic residents of the Hilltop neighborhood and centering Black leadership in its governance and operations. As a community-driven organization, we work to create lasting solutions for affordable housing while honoring the cultural and historical legacy of the community we serve.
We are offering an informational meeting on January 16th from 5:30 -7:30 pm. We will provide the physical address of the meeting to those who RSVP.
At the meeting, you’ll learn:
· What community land trusts are and how they work.
· How affordable homeownership can change lives and build wealth for families.
· How Aya Community Land Trust is advancing equity and building a more inclusive future in partnership with the Hilltop community.
We’ll also discuss how you can become a member of Aya Community Land Trust. Membership is at the heart of a CLT—it centers the voices of the community and those served by the land trust. By becoming a member, you’ll help guide decisions, shape priorities, and ensure the Hilltop continues to thrive for generations. Attending one of these information meetings is a requirement for membership.

Our focus: Refining food resource tools for the first half of our assembly,

the food desert areas we want to focus on.

Overview:
Project assembly serves as an invitation for all our community members the unhoused members and immigrants who call the Pierce County area and spaces home. Let’s engage, learn, and share valuable insights and action plans related to climate change and its impacts on our health, environment, and communities. We recognize that climate change affects us all, especially the most vulnerable among us—immigrants and those experiencing homelessness. This will be a space for those voices to be heard and possible solutions discussed.
