Meet Drake Rashoff, a mechanic at the who helps keep everything from w**d eaters to straddle carriers running safely and efficiently. After watching his father work as a mechanic, Drake discovered a passion for fixing things himself. He turned his passion into a career and says one of the best parts of the job is that there's always something new to learn. Drake's career aligns with the Advanced Maritime Manufacturing pathway at the Maritime253 Skills Center, opening next month.

Thank you to everyone who joined our Enchanted Gnome & Fairy Habitat Walk last week! ✨🧚‍♀️🍄 Families explored our Place of Circling Waters habitat site, discovering hidden fairy houses and gnome homes tucked throughout the landscape. Along the way, they learned about the birds, fish, and other wildlife that call this special place home while lending a helping hand through habitat care activities and nature-inspired crafts.

At the 's Upper Clear Creek habitat site, conservation workers from EarthCorps remove invasive plants to create healthier wetlands and improve habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife. Their efforts help ensure this important natural area continues to support the local ecosystem for years to come! 🌿

Get a first look inside the new Maritime253 Skills Center before the fall school year begins! Stop by Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4-6 p.m. to tour the facility, meet instructors and industry partners, and learn about the programs available to high school students from across the South Sound interested in maritime careers. Port of Tacoma staff will also be on hand to share information about workforce development initiatives and public engagement opportunities.
