As Volunteer Appreciation Month comes to a close we’d like to spotlight the amazing volunteer team from Korsmo Construction. They cook and serve dinners at Nativity House Shelter. We are grateful for their kindness, generosity and culinary creativity. Their dinners are always a huge hit and guests have been asking when we get them again. All of us are eager to have Korsmo Construction out again this June.

During Volunteer Appreciation Month, we want to stress the importance of kindness. A few hours here and there might not seem like a lot but it adds up. It compounds and accumulates with interest. There are lots of great ways to volunteer with Catholic Community Services of Western Washington and Volunteer Services of Western Washington. Michelle T. has been doing food delivery for Homeless Adult Services and Family Housing Network sites in Tacoma since August 2022. She has driven a grand total of 1,429 miles to help ensure that meals are picked up from the Nativity House Shelter Kitchen and delivered to other local CCS sites serving unhoused adults and families. "If I could give Michelle a volunteer award trophy, it would be an award made entirely of Life Savers hard candies because she is a "life saver." Michelle always seems to take the rides that are hardest for me to cover. She is an amazing volunteer with a truly generous heart and I am so grateful to have her on our volunteer team." says Megan E., HAS Volunteer Coordinator.
