On the 23d of February 2026, American Legion Edward B Rhodes Parkland Post 2 conducted a potluck supper for their members and guests. The attendees had a good time socializing and dining on the yummy food that folks brought. The food items brought in were great: Green Bean Casserole; Shredded Chicken Sandwiches on Hawaiian Buns; Creamed Peas; Fried Chicken; Mashed Potatoes; Tossed Salad; Apple Pie and lots of other desserts. What an evening!

Today we had two guests, Colin and his mother. Colin is being sponsored by Post 2 and will be competing in an essay reading contest at Moses Lake, with a chance to compete at a national level for a scholarship opportunity. We wish him the best of luck!

The 13th of December, 2025, was an evening of good cheer. Parkland Post 2 had a dinner party to celebrate Christmas. We dined and celebrated at the Black Bear Diner, 10115 South Tacoma Way, Lakewood, WA. The cuisine and service was outstanding. The prime rib, "loaded baked potatoes" and sides looked really great as they were placed on the table. We had so many people show up that it made the banquet room so crowded that you to go outside just to change your mind.

On 15 November, 2025, two veterans were initiated into Edward B Rhodes Parkland Post 2. We we3lcomed Felix Villaneuva, an US Army veteran and, Glenn Takeuchi, an US Air Force veteran. Following the initiation ceremony, Post 2 had a potluck supper

The Tacoma (WA) Historical Society and Edward B Rhodes American Legion Parkland Post 2 presented their 19th Annual Veterans Day Celebration on November 11th, 2025, 11:00am, at the War Memorial Park, near 6th Avenue and Jackson Street, Tacoma, WA. The prelude consisted of a medley of patriotic songs. The official portion of the program started with a presentation of the colors conducted by the Henry Foss High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets., The National Anthem was played. Introductory remarks were made by the host, Colonel (Ret.) Andy Leneweaver of the Tacoma Historical Society. He was followed by a celebration 0f 250 years of veteran's service by the US Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. A presentation of the birth of the US Amy, in a congressional resolution, on June 14th, 1775, was conducted by Edward B Rhodes Parkland Post 2 Post Historian Staff Sergeant Travis Bresino, an active-duty soldier assigned to Battery A, 1st Battalion, 3d Field Artillery Regiment.
