Tacoma Housing Tacoma Housing Authority provides high quality housing and supportive services to persons and families in need. We develop real estate.

We seek to do this in ways that strengthen our communities and help them be safe, vibrant, prosperous, attractive and just. We strive to fulfill our mission in five ways:

We own affordable apartments and homes that we offer for rent. We seek to build and maintain our properties so they are attractive and enjoyable places to live and assets for their neighborhoods. THA, by what it builds and how i

t builds, seeks to create and promote communities that are appealing places to live, work, attend school, shop and play. We help people pay their rent for apartments or homes that they lease from private landlords. We have programs that help families purchase their first home. THA also provides or arranges for supportive services. We do this for people who need help to succeed as tenants. We want people to succeed, not only as tenants, but as parents, students and wage earners. In this way, we want our housing to be a transforming experience for them. In these ways, and others, THA seeks to serve its communities.

As we approach the halfway point of 2026, we are looking back at some of our successes from last year.

In 2025, we had an 89.4% employee retention rate, ahead of our 85% target. We also invested in training and professional development, and kept our commitment to a housing wage for all positions.

As we get closer to the halfway point of 2026, we're looking back at some of our successes in 2025. Last year, our community advocates worked with 1,216 households to provide housing stability and other supportive services.

96% of these families kept their housing with THA, including 89 percent of households referred for a housing stability service.

We're taking a look back at some of our successes from last year and their impact on our ongoing work. In 2025, we began a large-cale rehabilitation project in our Salishan and Hillside Terrace neighborhoods, which will upgrade 316 housing units serving more than 1,000 residents.

As we inch closer to the halfway point of 2026, we are looking back at some of our 2025 successes. Last year saw 219 new move-ins into our units, up 5 percent from 2024.

This includes 32 households who came through our partnership with Tacoma Public Schools to house student families facing homelessness.

Along with our friends at Housing Pierce County and development partners at Brawner, 1DROP, and LMC Construction, THA staff took Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland on a tour of our rehabilitation project in Salishan.

We'd like to thank Congresswoman Strickland for securing $850k in federal funding for this project, ensuring 316 deeply affordable units receive essential systems upgrades and accessibility improvements so that they provide long-term stability for hundreds of low-income households for years to come.

As we inch closer to the halfway point of 2026, we are looking back at some of our 2025 successes. In 2022, we set an ambitious goal of adding 500 new units of housing by 2028. We're proud to share that by the end of 2025, we surpassed that goal by adding 592 units.
