Boy did we have FUN with our incoming 6th graders today!!
They learned the lay of the land with a scavenger hunt of classrooms/offices/entrances/bathrooms/gyms/library.
They explored using a combination lock.
They had FREE breakfast and lunch.
They got LOTS of questions answered.
They toured the locker rooms.
They played games to burn off energy.
AND SO MUCH MORE!
We can't wait to see them back in September for the REAL THING!

This is the digital manipulation that Maya P-L created that won Best in Show at the District Digital Arts Contest. The judges who chose Best in Show came from the graphic design industry, and they were blown away by some of the symbolism they saw here - the isolation of the student watching the flood waters, the flooded school building and the feelings about the future that this brings up, and the skill shown in rendering the reflections and shadows, and other details.
WAY TO GO MAYA!
