The 32,000 square foot STAR Center offers a stunning new hall for rentals, a music and dance studio, teaching kitchen, fitness room, as well as a dynamic indoor/outdoor children's playground, and a party rental space. Parks Tacoma is looking for community input as it prepares to reduce spending by more than $9 million to address a budget shortfall and rebuild reserves. On Monday, May 18, the Park Board will hold a special meeting and public hearing so community members can share suggestions and concerns with commissioners as they discuss budget amendment recommendations.

The meeting will be held at 6 pm in the Boardroom at Parks Tacoma headquarters, 4702 S 19th St. There will be options to join in person and online. Written comments can be submitted via an online form.

Spring is in the air and it’s time to start thinking about flowers! The Point Defiance Flower & Garden Festival is June 6 –7. The festival features activities for adults and kids with workshops, garden tours, food trucks, art and garden vendors, keynote speakers, wine tasting, and so much more!

Prop. 1 would invest up to $155 million in parks with no increase in current taxes.

The bond proposal, which is going before voters in a special election April 28, would invest in neighborhood parks, keep parks open and safe, create community gathering spaces, enhance sports and active lifestyles, and help people connect with nature and wildlife.
