I said this when I first joined the E-Board and I'm going to say it again: I'm so excited to be here! Being a neurodivergent worker has not always been easy and I'm so grateful to be an OPEIU8 member because it has been clear there is a place for me here and all are welcome. Serving on the board has allowed me opportunities to come back to my own workplace with new knowledge and ideas about how to strengthen worker solidarity and ensure every member knows their rights. As our elders retire, the worker landscape is changing, and we as a local need to be ready to face those changes with an eye toward progress. Local 8 has been a leader in advancing the cause of social justice in our membership and the labor movement as a whole. I hope, as Recording Secretary and with the rest of our leaders and members, that I can be a part of shaping a future that promotes solidarity and strength for all.

I was raised in a strong union household and feel so privileged to be able to live the work I love everyday. I am running for Secretary Treasurer to continue the legacy created by Suzanne Mode and Cindy Shu. Their commitment to empower workers to fight for social and economic justice through education and organizing remains strong in all of us. I will honor their legacy of growing the labor movement for all OPEIU 8 members.

I am choosing to run for Vice President of our local union to ensure we all are heard and seen. My experiences have shown me the importance of solidarity. I want to inspire others to advocate for our rights as workers, our civil rights, our voter rights, our communities and families. My perspective can add to the driving force of meaningful change and help prioritize the issues that matter most to us. This position will allow me to work with our local 8 siblings to mentor and uplift future leaders within our family, fostering a new generation of activists. I am committed to strengthening ties between all races and genders to promote unity and collaboration among our members. Ultimately, I want my candidacy to serve as a beacon of hope that calls others to stand up and say, "Here am I, send me." Proving that diverse leadership leads to stronger, more effective unions for everyone.

In 1988, I became a union member for the first time after accepting a job as a Metro bus driver. The wages and benefits that were negotiated during the 25 years I drove a bus, allowed me to raise and provide for my two sons as a single mom. My activism grew over those many years, because I experienced firsthand the power of the union, led by the strength of the members. I know what we can accomplish when we stand together. After I joined Local 8 my Union Rep encouraged me to bring that same level of commitment and energy to my new union home and I am forever grateful they believed in me.

I'm excited to be part of this campaign with Emmanuel, Erin and Katrina as we stand united to fight for our members, grow our union and prepare for the future.

"We believe in the power of our union and the fight for social and economic justice for all workers and their families."

- Our members deserve to be treated with dignity and respect in their workplaces
- We will continue to organize those industries and worksites where workers want and deserve better wages, benefits and to advocate for their rights
- We will continue to be good stewards of the union's finances and resources
