Kicking off 2SLGBTQ+ Pride Month here in the Cherokee Nation! ๐ณ๏ธโ๐ Part of our greatness as Cherokee people is our enduring commitment to creating an environment where every citizen feels respected and valued.
Today, Cherokee Nation leaders, employees, community members, allies, and supporters gathered at Wilma P. Mankiller Cherokee Capitol Park in Tahlequah to celebrate . During the event, Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. signed an addendum to the 2020 equality executive order recognizing June as Pride Month, encouraging support and leadership among executive directors and establishing equality advocates and equality ambassador groups in the Cherokee Nation!
During the celebration, Chief Hoskin also announced that Maggie Glory, who works in our Government Relations office, will serve as our tribeโs first equality advocate.
