Scattered thunderstorms are currently making their way southward across the far SW Panhandle and northern South Plains. Another cluster of storms in the Amarillo area is heading southward as well. None of these are expected to be severe and should gradually taper off over the next few hours. The remainder of today will see mostly sunny skies with light southerly winds and highs in the mid-to-upper 90s.

8/27/2026- We have a chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms through this evening with highs reaching into the low to mid 90s.

From our partners at NWS-Good morning. Temperatures will "cool off" a few degrees today with mostly easterly flow expected today. Thunderstorms are expected to develop in east-central New Mexico this afternoon and move into West Texas late in the afternoon through the evening hours. The highest chances of thunderstorms will be on the caprock and will have the potential of becoming severe. The primary threat will be severe wind gusts up to 75 mph.
